Very easily, I can get caught up in the “have-to’s” of life. Instead of being thankful for everything I get to do and take care of, I partner with annoyance or irritability. This is a perfect breeding ground for the enemy to plant lies and despair in my life.
You get to be a living sacrifice to God
Our lives are incredible gifts from God that we get to steward well. Good stewardship begins with thankfulness. From this place of thanksgiving, I begin living as a sacrifice. Do you relate at all? When you’re unloading the dishwasher for the millionth time or needing to deal with the annoying reminder that it’s time to change the oil in your car, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. In Romans, Paul instructs as to present our bodies as living sacrifice. This reminds us to go to a higher place. The place where heaven begins to guide and dictate even my mundane daily chores.
Live humbly, knowing your entire life is a result of God’s goodness
From this place, I offer myself to my family and friends eagerly, knowing that my efforts and heart are a gift back to the Father. I create a cycle of a holy spirit led life, one that meets with God and pours into others. Our lives belong to God. We have the joy of partnering with heaven to bring God’s love to the earth.
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2)
