Are you a son or a daughter of God? If so, you are called to be led by the Spirit. Sons and daughters walk by the Spirit. You are a new creation in Christ, having been crucified with Him! That is a marvelous truth. But, you still have a choice every day on how you’re going to live. You are no longer a slave, but a child of the Mist High.

Sons and Daughters Walk by the Spirit

We are not to be led by the flesh, but by the Spirit. A Holy Spirit-led life produces rich fruit that enriches our souls and it is a fragrance to those around us. Jesus has set us free! Our lives should look different!

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law” (Galatians 5:16-18).

The world is always in turmoil. People are living in anxiety and fear. But there is hope! As ambassadors for Christ, the children of God tell a different story. We have been washed clean by the blood of Jesus and we are new creations! We live in this world, but not of it. Let your life be a testimony of the grace of God.

“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace” (Romans 8:5-6).

How do I Live by the Spirit Every Day?

Here are some practical steps to help you live by the Spirit. It’s one thing to know that something is the right thing to do, but how do we start?

Begin each day with thanksgiving and praise. Turn your affections towards Jesus and simply thank Him. You have been given access into His presence! If you need to repent, don’t hesitate! God is faithful to forgive.

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name!” (Psalm 100:4).

Keep your heart in a posture of thankfulness and just keep your focus on Him. You can do this all day, even while working or cooking, taking care of your children, etc.

Another key is to remain childlike! Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14).

Children believe what they hear. Read the Bible and believe it! Believe what God says, and remember that you are a co-heir with Christ. You live in the Kingdom of God!

Ask The Holy Spirit to help you! He is your Helper, as promised by Jesus! He leads you into all truth. Talk to Him and listen. Wait on Him. Practice being still and having ears to hear.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, thank you for dwelling in me and with me. I ask that you would help me and teach me to be led by you! Convict me when I am living by the flesh and keep my heart soft, so that I repent quickly. I surrender to you today. Thank you that I am yours and you are mine! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Living An Enriched Life

I often say, “If our output exceeds our input, then our upkeep will be our downfall.” And I think many of us have got so many irons in the fire, we’ve actually put the fire out. And what we need to do is to remove some of those irons out of the fire and stoke up the fire.

Too many of us frequently, often say, “I’ve got too much to do. I haven’t got the time.” But we only have enough time to do the will of God. We don’t have more time. We don’t have less time. So if we keep on saying we don’t have enough time, it has to be because of one of two reasons. One, we are doing things that are not the will of God, or they are the will of God, but someone else should be doing them. And I think if we got this balance in our lives, then I think that will enrich us in building on the basics that Kelly just spoke about. And on those foundations. You know, “Be still and know that I am God.” You know, don’t fret, don’t be anxious, don’t be driven. Be led by the Holy Spirit.

One Practical Way To Step Into Freedom

Do you feel stuck? Are you confused about what direction to take in a decision you have to make? What areas of your life feel held back from stepping into promises? These are all good questions to ask the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13) and wants to help you step into freedom.

The Word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). It can work in your life too!

Digging Into The Word

One practical key for you to step into freedom is found in Isaiah 61:1-3,

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, ²to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, ³and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

The key to freedom, especially when you’re feeling stuck, is determining if you are a captive or a prisoner. Captivity happens when someone is captures. Captivity happens at the hands of others. Prisoners are in prison because of something they have done. Captives need to forgive others, prisoners need to forgive themselves.

Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any experiences in your life that are holding you captive?
Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any choices you’ve made in life that have cause you to become a prisoner?
Who do you need to forgive for harming/hurting you physically, emotionally, or spiritually?
Is there anything you need to forgive yourself for? If so, what?

A Life of Integrity

Living a life of integrity is crucial to our walk with God. He sees and knows all things, yet we do not have to be afraid of His correction as we grow with Him. It is our responsibility to live honest lives, knowing that we are always secure in God, yet appropriately answering to and living in such a manner that pleases God.

“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart. To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” (Proverbs 21:2-3)

Why Integrity Matters

God looks at the heart. He sees every motive, intention, and decision. As believers, we have a responsibility to the Holy Spirit to live in purity of mind, thought, and action. Our integrity is important to God. It shapes the future of our children’s children.

Proverbs has much to say about it:

“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out” (Proverbs 10:9)

“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them” (Proverbs 11:3)

“The righteous who walks in his integrity—blessed are his children after him!” (Proverbs 20:7)

What does an upright life look like?

An integrous life is one with nothing hidden–not from God, your spouse, or your close community. It lives fully seen, known, and accountable. More and more, we read stories of believers with platform and fame who have lived in sin or fallen away from the Lord altogether. All too often, this is a result of a lack of accountability. Living with integrity is knowing you don’t just answer to yourself, but to those God has placed around you, and ultimately Him.

If you can recall areas of your life that are hidden, ask the Holy Spirit today to empower you to share vulnerably with a trusted mentor or peer. refuse to partner with the lies of the accuser, telling you to stay hidden. You were made to be loved in the light and truth of God.
