Sight & Sound tells a story of hope in their very first produced film, “I Heard The Bells” which was released on December 1.
Sight & Sound
After producing Broadway-style Bible stage musicals for over 20 years, Sight & Sound has ventured into a new space in 2020. When the pandemic struck, they were forced to close the doors of their theatres. But that didn’t stop them from spreading God’s word through stories.
During Easter weekend in 2020, they released a streaming version of their stage musical “Jesus” online. More than three million people worldwide watched Sight & Sound’s online streaming debut. Their ministry still thrived even after closing their theatres.
“The Lord really revealed to us: We’re not just a theatre company. We’re a company of storytellers,” Sight & Sound’s Joshua Enck said in an interview.
“I Heard The Bells”
Recently, they launched Sight & Sound Films, their new brand that aims to produce inspiring faith-based films. On December 1, they released their very first film, “I Heard The Bells.” It is the story of the late American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. He is a Christian who wrote a poem that later became the Christmas carol “I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day.”
“We want to move people’s hearts towards truth through the power of story. Jesus, Himself had over 50 parables. A third of His teachings were from a storytelling perspective,” Joshua said. “… The calling for Sight & Sound Films is to tell the stories of figures and events from history that changed the world because Christ first changed them.”
The film is family-friendly and will be conveying a message of hope for everyone.
“He was a celebrity. He was [like] Charles Dickens,” he said. “In fact, he and Charles Dickens were friends. Henry Longfellow was a poet and a key influencer on culture back in the 1800s. … [I Heard The Bells] was a poem he wrote right in the middle of the Civil War, 1863 Christmas Day, right on the heels of a major tragedy in his life. And it’s really a story about hope. … We’ve all been through some crisis and tragedy, and we need to hear a story of hope.”
