You Are God’s Child and He Has Lavished His Love On You!
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” 1 John 3:1,
Have you thought about this lately? You are God’s child. Yes, you! Yes, God’s! The Father has lavished His great love on you through His Son – Jesus, so you could be called His child.
Let’s review how this amazing relationship came about.
Back in the Garden of Eden, because of the enemy’s trap of temptation, sin and the fall of man, we ended up spiritually dead, separated from God and in slavery to the devil. As the devil was smacking us down, God was working His plan of redemption to pour out the greatest expression of love in the history of the world. At the proper time, because He loved us so much, He sent Jesus to rescue us by paying the price for our ransom with His own blood. When we believed and received Jesus into our lives, the enemy lost his grip as the Father lavished His love upon us and called us His children.
John 1:12 says, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”
What a fabulous right – the right to become children of God! Think about the joy, benefits, security, stability, blessings, favor and continual love a child receives from a good earthly father. How much more does our Heavenly Father provides all of these good things for us — His children?
And that’s not all. There’s one other thing. Notice the phrase from the opening verse, “that we should be called.” Literally, the idea of being “called” the children of God means being called aloud or by name. God has declared aloud to all of heaven and hell that because of Jesus’ shed blood, we are His kids and He knows us by name. Wow. Think about it. The God of heaven and earth calls you His dearly beloved child.
I hope that puts a “pep in your step!” Remember you are not a slave to the devil; you are a child of the Almighty! Why not take a moment to talk to your Father and thank Him for His love and for calling you His child?
Say It:
“Father, thank You for lavishing Your love on me so that I am called a child of God. You are my Heavenly Father and I am a member of Your family. This is an incredible blessing, and I ask You to help me to receive continued, fresh revelation on this beautiful truth. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
