From being a homeless drug addict to a Christian minister helping others to know Jesus Christ, Bobbi Jo Reed shares her tough journey to sobriety after over two decades of being trapped in addiction.

Growing up, Bobbi had always longed for a relationship with her dad who was a police officer. Her mother had mental issues that weren’t addressed and her dad was always busy working two jobs. At the age of 12, she started to work a full-time job and that was when she started to go out.
The Kansas City woman first had a taste of alcohol when she was 12. At the age of 13, she became an alcoholic and a drug addict. As a result of her addiction, she became homeless and was even human trafficked and almost killed many times.
Drug Addiction
For 22 years, she had been captivated by her addiction until she ended up in a detox treatment. That was where she started to see God’s purpose for her life.
In the detox, life was hard, there were no hygiene products available. So when she had a chance to gain profit by baking bread and selling them in the market, she started to buy hygiene products. She also shared them with others who were in the treatment. She even gave them the leftover of her baked goods.
“When I started helping these other people and sharing my experience with them, I started feeling like, ‘Man, maybe I could do something, maybe there’s something I could be good at.’ The Lord just took that, those hygiene products and that detox and those loaves of homemade bread changed my life,” she shared during an interview with The Christian Post.
Healing House
Today, Bobbi is helping thousands who have struggled with addiction to find recovery. In 2003, she founded Healing House to help people get back up on their feet again and have a relationship with the Lord.
“Nobody’s ever left here without finding a relationship with Christ. And that’s amazing,” Bobbi said of the people who’ve stayed in her recovery homes.
You can watch her detailed life story in the documentary film “Bobbi Jo: Under the Influence,” which shows her remarkable transformation from being a drug addict to a minister.
