85-year-old Dale Hodson who suffered from a stroke was recovering in a rehab facility when he decided to be baptized! Such a beautiful picture that it is never too late to be saved and welcomed into the family of God.
Dale had two strokes back in 2005 and has been in and out of hospital ever since. His health began to decline once he was diagnosed with diabetes. Yet, just within the past 6 months, he also suffered from heart problems.
A father’s powerful decision
Dale has gone to church his whole life, but with his decline in health, his sons were still concerned about his relationship with God and felt it in their heart to continue to talk to their father about his relationship with Jesus. The three sons chose to continue to ask him questions about his faith and they noticed a definate decline in their father’s optimism.
Little did they know that throughout the time they were feeling this in their hearts, God was moving on their behalf.
One Friday night, one of Dale’s sons, Matthew, received a text from his brother, Mike, saying, “Dad wants to give his life to Christ and be Baptized!”
They were surprised and joyful about their dad’s decision so they immediately made a plan to make it possible. That is when the staff of the Adena Rehab in Greenfield came in and offered their help.
“We are going to inflate a pool outside and run hot water to it and baptize him there,” Haley Teeters, staff in the Adena Rehab, told the brothers. Baptisms in unusual places happen more often than we realize – people just want to be baptized, no matter where they are in location.
Dale was baptized right at the courtyard of the rehab facility by his son, Mike.
“Dad was baptized right there in the courtyard at Adena Hospital in Greenfield! My dad, who I didn’t think I would ever see do this, just became one of God’s children at the age of 85. The smile on his face when he sat up said it all,” Matthew said.
There’s no age limit in accepting Jesus and becoming a part of God’s family. It’s never too late to be baptized into His Kingdom!
