Great faith is not limited to the pages of the Bible or the lives of those who walked before us. It is a living reality that each of us can experience today.
What Does The Bible Say
“When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, ‘Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith.'” Matthew 8:10
In the journey of faith, we encounter extraordinary moments that leave a profound impact on your hearts and souls. One such moment is when Jesus marveled at the centurion’s great faith in Matthew 8:10. In this remarkable display of faith you can and I can glean insights on how to nurture and grow.
In Matthew 8:5-13, you will find the account of the centurion who approached Jesus, seeking healing for his servant. This Roman officer humbly expressed his belief that Jesus only needed to speak the word, and his servant would be healed. Jesus marveled at the centurion’s faith, recognizing its depth and authenticity.
The centurion’s faith was characterized by humility, trust, and unwavering confidence in Jesus’ authority. He saw Jesus as the source of all power and believed that a simple command from Him would bring about the miraculous healing he sought.
Here are some ways that you and I can cultivate the same great faith in our lives:
Surrender and Humility – Start with surrendering yourself entirely to God’s will. Like the centurion, you must recognize your dependence on Jesus, acknowledging His sovereignty over every aspect of your life. Humility opens the door for God to work powerfully in and through you. As you yield to His plan, you position yourself for His extraordinary acts in our life.
James 4:10 says, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.”
Trust in God’s Promises – You can build your faith upon trusting in God’s promises. When you anchor your faith in the unshakable truth of God’s Word, you can weather any storm and stand strong against doubt and fear. The Bible is filled with countless promises of God’s love, provision, and faithfulness. As you meditate on His Word, your faith is nourished and strengthened.
Great faith is not limited to the pages of the Bible or the lives of those who walked before us. It is a living reality that each of us can experience today. Let us embrace the example set by the centurion and draw near to Jesus with unwavering trust, humility, and a firm belief in His promises.
