Grandpa Thanks God When Granddaughter Got Into Medical School

Being a doctor himself, a grandpa thanked God after learning that his granddaughter got admitted to medical school.

Danielle uploaded a video on TikTok about how her grandfather wanted someone in their family to follow in his footsteps.

She wrote, “My grandpa and my sister have had the same dream for the past 10+ years of me carrying on his legacy as a doctor. He’s 95 years old, and she has been praying that he gets to see the day that she get into medical school and will be the next Dr. Glanz.”

To break the news to their grandfather, the whole family arranged a visit to his house to surprise him.

“I have really big news for you,” she said.a

“Really?” grandpa inquired.

She nodded and said, “I’m going to medical school,” and couldn’t help but tear up.

“You what?” Grandpa couldn’t believe it at first! Then he cried and said, “Thank You, God. I’m happy to hear that. Oh, you are our legacy,” all while crying.

It was a very emotional moment for the whole family. No wonder the video got 13.2 million views on TikTok!

“I will cry at this video forever,” Danielle wrote in the caption.

A Legacy

“My family and I, we wanted to wait until we could tell him in person. So we told him a couple of days after. And so my whole family got together, and we all went to his house. He was so confused at first. He kind of knew that something was up,” Danielle shared in an interview with GMA.

“It was a school that I had interviewed for. And I was kind of waiting for it. He had a hint, but he was over the moon. He still calls me about it like every single day,” she said.

Her grandpa is an inspiration to their family, especially to Danielle. Even though he didn’t force any of them to pursue med school, he was hoping that someone would continue the legacy.

Woman Holds Wedding In ICU So Dying Grandfather Can Attend

A woman held her wedding in ICU so that her terminally ill grandfather, whom she dearly love, could attend her wedding.

The Bride’s Wish

Every girl’s dream is to have their father walk them down the aisle on their wedding day. For bride Hailey Carvey, she also wanted her grandfather to see them tie the knot with her groom. Thus, they decided to have their wedding earlier in ICU.

Jose Guzman, Hailey’s grandfather, whom she referred to as her “papa,” was battling cancer. Amidst preparing for her wedding, the family soon discovered that her papa’s days were numbered. Because his cancer had spread “from his prostate into his liver and spine.” Moreover, the chemotherapy treatment was no longer effective.

Wedding In ICU

For months, Hailey and her fiancé Ethan planned to have their wedding in May. However, after receiving the heartbreaking news, the couple decided to move their wedding as soon as possible. Hailey wanted her papa to witness the best day of her life. She wanted him to be by her side on her wedding day. And if she waited until May, that dream wouldn’t be realized.

“I don’t know what I would’ve done if I didn’t have him there,” Hailey said in tears in an interview. “I would’ve just walked myself with his hat. It just, like, broke me, and I was thinking in my head, ‘He has to get out of here, because he has to be there.'”

As a result, with the help of kindhearted staffs members at Logan Health Medical Center, the couple had their wedding at the hospital. They initiated the event in an ICU room where Hailey’s grandfather is a patient.

So, on March 25, 2022, Hailey and Ethan got married, with Hailey’s papa as one of the witnesses.

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” And clearly, these grandparents are living out the Bible verse.

The grandmother, Geri Ann Privette, shared to Facebook the recording of her granddaughter following after her husband’s declarations. They went through their morning exercise and while they were taking a break, Phil Privette, took the opportunity of teaching his granddaughter the way of Christ.

“So, therefore, devil you have no power over me!” Phil invites the toddler to declare it after him. “Or authority over me,” they continued. “Because I am mighty, and I am powerful and I have the anointing of the Holy Ghost and I have glory.” They concluded with shouts of praise and glory to Jesus.

“Hallelujahs” and “Thank You Jesus” filled the road they took on. They lifted their hands and jumped with joy.

Their video reached up to more than a million views and blessed the hearts of the viewers. People commented of how precious their interaction was. Some affirmed their confessions by sharing Bible verses found in Matthew 19:14. It says, “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’”

Apparently, the grandfather, Phil Privette Jr. is an evangelist from Turning Point International Ministries. He’s been invited as a speaker from churches like Jubilee Church at Nebraska and Victory Church.  He truly is committed to proclaiming the power of Jesus as he shares the Gospel regardless of age, as seen with his confession with his granddaughter.
