“Goodness of God” Won as the Song of the Year During the GMA Dove Awards

Recently, Goodness of God won the song of the year during the GMA Dove Awards 2023.

Jenn Johnson serves as one of the worship leaders at Bethel Redding and is also the president of Bethel Music.

“We have five children, and our youngest two are adopted. And we wrote this song—probably sixty or seventy percent of it—after we got home and our adoption was finalized. It makes me emotional… with our son, who changed our lives. I was just saying in the car that this was a heartfelt song to God. Just thanking Him for being with me all my life and being so faithful,” she said, then proceeded to thank the people who brought the song to life.

The lyrics reveal her heart from a season , filled with gratitude because of God’s faithfulness throughout her life.

What Does The Bible Say

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.” Habakkuk 3:17-19

In the book of Habakkuk, we find a powerful reminder of God’s unwavering goodness and faithfulness, even when circumstances seem dire and all hope appears lost. Habakkuk 3:17-19 beautifully captures the essence of this truth.

These verses speak to the resilient spirit of a believer who clings to God’s goodness even when the visible circumstances around them appear bleak. It’s a profound lesson for all of us.

Life, at times, will present you with seasons of drought, barrenness, and scarcity. Your heart may grow weary, and despair may knock at the door of your faith. But in these moments, you must remember the unchanging character of your God. He remains good, faithful, and always at work, orchestrating His perfect plan.

Just as the prophet Habakkuk declared, you too can choose to rejoice in the Lord despite adverse conditions. It’s a powerful testimony of your trust in God’s sovereignty. In those moments when it seems like nothing is going right, you can find strength in Him, knowing that He is your refuge and your source of unwavering joy.

Friend, as you journey through life, hold fast to the truth that God’s goodness is not determined by your circumstances. Rejoice in Him, and let His strength carry you through every challenge, for He is always good and always moving, even when the world seems to stand still.

Mom Still Declares The Goodness Of God Amidst Baby’s Critical Condition

This faithful mom is still declaring the goodness of God amidst her baby’s critical condition.

Mom declares the goodness of God

Christian blogger Brynne Willis has been posting about her baby Cillian’s health condition since they learned about his diagnosis while he was still in his womb. Her son was diagnosed with a heart problem and several other health issues. Right after giving birth to him on February 15, Cillian went through a series of surgeries to save his life.

It was terrifying and difficult for the first-time parents but they have kept their faith and hope in the Lord. Recently, Brynne posted an update about Cillian’s condition. The he has made a lot of improvements however he is still in critical condition.

“Cillian is still really critical. We just got a handle on the seizures yesterday but he has been having periods of low heart rate and needs to be restimulated by an external pacemaker. Despite these issues, he has made tremendous strides in recovery! He is handling foods, is off morphine, less stiff than prior days, is close to being off oxygen, and is able to focus on objects and track to all four corners- all signs of great neurological recovery.”

Baby’s critical condition

Baby Cillian has been a fighter and his parents see how willing he to keep going. Most importantly, they are seeing the power of God over their situation every single day. Amidst the tough circumstances, Brynne and her husband still keep their faith in the Lord and are proclaiming the goodness of God.

“I don’t doubt his warrior spirit for a second. And I don’t doubt the power of our God. Through all my grief and pain, I still know that he is good and has a plan. Sam, the team, Cillian, and I are taking it one step at a time. God is good, all the time.”

Hundreds Of High School Graduates Sing ‘Goodness Of God’

Hundreds of Junior High School graduates sing the worship song “Goodness of God” during their graduation ceremony.

It is so right to give God all the glory, honor, and praise that He deserves whenever He blesses us with achievements and milestones. Because it was God who gave us the strength and wisdom that we needed for it to be possible. These junior high school graduates did what is right by worshiping God during their graduation ceremony.

These graduates are from New Corella National High School, a public school located in the southern region of the Philippines. There are 627 graduates who sang Bethel Music’s “Goodness of God” in unison.

“They overcame every challenge to achieve their academic goals,” their teacher, Oralan Quiao Rentuza, wrote in a Facebook post. “They may have faced financial difficulties, family responsibilities, or learning struggles. But because of God’s goodness, they were able to persist and finish Junior High School.”

Their heartfelt performance was their way to pay tribute to God for the success they have obtained. As a proud teacher, Mr. Oralan took to Facebook to share this memorable moment and now has almost 800,000 views and 24,000 engagements!

Little girl presented worship song ‘Goodness Of God’ to classmates in sign language

Jordan Bessent took to Facebook to share her daughter, Irelynn Rose’s powerful performance for her classmates in homeschool. Irelynn was only 5 years old at that time when she has been greatly influenced by her parents’ faith and love for music.

One of the songs that their family listens to during car rides was the worship song “Goodness of God” by Bethel Music. Jordan and her husband then had the idea to try to learn the song in American Sign Language to present to her classmates in homeschool.

“Well Irelynn and I LOVE to listen to all kinds of music in the car together and our latest song obsession has been ‘Goodness of God’ so we got the idea to try and learn how to ‘sign it’ as in ASL sign language and her present it to her classmates and moms,” Jordan wrote in a Facebook post.

Goodness of God

Some moms recorded Irelynn’s performance and sent it to her mom. She then posted it on Facebook and it has been watched by almost 200,000 viewers and over 20,000 praised her in the comments. Jordan expressed how proud she was of her young daughter.

“I’m so proud of her, she practiced and practiced she’s still got some learning and tweaking but I’m telling y’all I sure am one PROUD mama! Love this little lady so much!”

American Sign Language, popularly known as ASL is a natural language that uses the movements of hands and face to communicate. It has the same linguistic properties as spoken languages but has different grammar than English.

Pastor Matt Wakefield Declares “GOD IS GOOD” Amidst Daughter’s Funeral Service

Pastor Matt Wakefield and his wife, Maggie, held their daughter’s funeral or celebration of life service on January 24. And amidst their grief and loss, the couple still declared “God is Good” and continued to believe that God is the God of Miracles.

A pastoral team member at Mercy Culture Church, Pastor Matt never doubted God’s ability to heal. And in the face of the impossibility, he held onto God and prayed for his daughter, Justice Miracle, to receive her miracle.

Justice was born having difficulty in breathing. But the couple and the church contended in prayer for Justice’s lungs.

Days after, Justice went to be with Jesus. They may not receive the answer to their prayers, but Pastor Matt and Maggie still commit to the truth of God, that He is good and loves to heal.

Maggie shared, “Faith is not found in the receiving, but holding on to what we cannot see. I still believe He is good. He is faithful.”

Additionally, Pastor Matt agreed and supported his wife’s faith and declared it during the remembrance of their daughter’s life. He said, “I and my wife joined in this one thought: ‘In the middle of every storm and every season, GOD IS GOOD!’ It does not change.”

Moreover, Justice’s 4-year-old sister was dancing during the funeral service. And the senior pastor, Landon, testified that as the little girl was dancing, he felt the joy of the Lord come over him. They worshipped God and sang to Him, “You don’t have to prove a thing… you’re able to do all things!”

Indeed, God does not change. He remains good and faithful in whatever season a person may be in. And by this truth, the Wakefields held onto God even more and declared a powerful cry of faith. “We are just getting started in believing God for miraculous! We will be unrelenting in our commitment to live out the truths of God’s word and carrying His Presence everywhere.”

Homeless Man Bows Down In Worship As He Listens To Song “Goodness Of God”

Singer and songwriter Harmonie London has been filling the streets of London with Gospel songs. She has been recording her performances on her Youtube page. But, one of her videos caught people’s attention as one of her listeners got touched by the Holy Spirit.

Harmonie was singing the song “Goodness of God” by Bethel Music. It is a song filled with thanksgiving for God’s goodness. The lyrics go, “All my life You have been faithful / All my life You have been so, so good / With every breath that I am able / I will sing of the goodness of God.”

A homeless and alcoholic man, who was passing by the area, could not help but listen to Harmonie’s wonderful voice. But, as he heard more, he got emotional. The song captivated his heart to God.

The man then shamelessly bowed down as his expression of worship before the Almighty God who carried him throughout his life. Indeed, it was the Holy Spirit who touched and moved him.

Even at the end of the video, the homeless man was still lying before God.

Fellow brothers and sisters in Christ commended Harmonie for using her talent to minister to people. One wrote, “Please keep on praising Him. Please keep on sharing His Light with the world. You are so gifted, but when you proclaim His Goodness through praises, the supernatural takes over!”

Psalm 89:1 says, “I will sing of the goodness and lovingkindness of the LORD forever; With my mouth, I will make known Your faithfulness from generation to generation.”

Let us proclaim the goodness of the Lord in whatever we do, and we may not know it, but we have already impacted those around us.

Redeemer Of All Things

God wants to take brokenness and make it whole again. He does whatever it takes–even the impossible–to save souls, transform lives, marriages, and families. His heart is redemption. It’s why Jesus came to the earth to walk with and know us.

There is always a way

Do you believe there is no way for a circumstance or person to be redeemed? Maybe you’ve seen the absolute worst in yourself or someone else and are sure there’s nothing good ahead. Or, maybe you have made a profound mistake and are unsure how to move forward.

I want you to consider David’s story in the bible. Arguably, he had some significant highs (killing Goliath) and terrible lows (impregnating Bathsheba and ensuring her husband died). We remember him as the man after God’s own heart in 1 Samuel 13. David’s story demonstrates God’s ability to be the redeemer of all things, despite our failures or mistakes.

Jesus: the redeemer of all things

Beautifully, Jesus tethered himself into David’s lineage. God grafted Jesus’s bloodline–despite David’s mistake–into David and Bathsheba’s marriage. See Matthew chapter 1 below.

“A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham: Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram, Ram the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife, …and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.” (Matthew 1:1-6)

I don’t know your story or where you have been. But I believe that God wants to show up in your life as a faithful redeemer. I am praying that you experience the joy of His goodness today!

Taste And See The Goodness Of God

I want to encourage you today, right out of the word of God, Psalm 34:8. I’m just going to read it to you. It says, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” Taste and see that the Lord is good. Think about this. Taste and see. There’s an action: taste and see. There’s two actions right there in order for you to know that He is good. Taste and see.

You know, when John the Baptist sent his followers to Jesus and he was like, “Are you the Messiah?” And He’s like, “Go back and tell John what they’ve seen and what they’ve heard.” And so there’s action on our part in order to experience the goodness of God. And so, there might be areas of your life, or maybe in general, but there might be an area like, “God, I know you’re good in my marriage, but I’m not so sure that you’re good in my finances.” You might be, you know, God is good in your career, but not in your personal life.

It could be so many different possibilities, but you know what? God is good all the time, every day in every situation and every circumstance. And a lot of times, for me, it just takes me asking like, “Holy Spirit, this doesn’t feel good, but I know you’re here. Can you show me how you’re here in this situation? Can you show me what you’re doing in this situation?” And when you face hard times, I want to encourage you. This has so helped me. I’m like, “Holy Spirit, what is the gift in this situation?” If I can taste and see that you’re good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him, that when you’re going through a hard time, find refuge in the Lord, ask the Holy Spirit how He’s working for your good, because He works all things for good, Amen?

The Power Of Belief

What do you believe about yourself, your life and others? Are your hopes up? God created our minds to be filled with hope and peace for our lives and futures. These hopes all come from what your belief systems.

Belief drives your everyday actions

The belief systems in our minds determine the kind of day that we have. Even in tragedy, or difficult times, what we believe about our lives determines our level of satisfaction and hope. I have a mental practice of taking my present realities and comparing them to the word of God. To do this, I first determine what I am believing about the circumstance. I identify my thoughts with the simple question: what do I believe about this situation?

Belief’s power in your life

Recently, my family was waiting to hear news on a potential health diagnosis for someone we loved. We were susceptible to the voice of fear. As we anticipated the results, I continued to speak life over my family member and the truth of the word of God. I remembered that they were wonderfully made my God and that they were filled with life from the Holy Spirit. Remembering these promises trained my mind to create a belief system around who God is, not what the diagnosis could be. This system did not let fear take it over, but instead helped my family live with confidence in God’s goodness and His promises to us.

What we believe about our lives matters. Consider your daily life today. Maybe your finances, your health, or your family’s well-being. Can you identify some of the beliefs you have in these areas? I urge you to search the word of God for the truth of His promises to you and create a belief system around the unwavering faithfulness of Jesus. Place these reminders around your home as a way to train your mind to know and fall back on the word of God in hardship.
