God’s voice is the steering wheel to our entire lives. When we encounter the voice of God, we are filled with truth, gratitude, and life. He is the rock and we build our life upon. Beautifully, God’s voice is woven into so many areas of our life. The roar of the ocean, the love in a friendship, the warmth of a home-cooked meal, and the laughter of a child all lead us to his voice.
“When his voice resounds, he holds nothing back. God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’ So that everyone he has made may know his work, he stops all people from their labor.” (Job 37:5-7)
We are edified
Because God is the maker of the heavens and the earth, we can turn to His creation to reflect his character and fill us with His life-giving presence. A walk in nature and connection with a loved one touches our bodies and spirit with His goodness. Thanksgiving fills us hearts as we encounter Him. From thankfulness pours our praise to our creator. Our gratitude draws God’s spirit close to us.
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:28-29)
We are brought to life by an encounter with his voice
God first made man with His breath, His voice. In one encounter, the voice of God literally fills us with life. Whenever we experience overwhelm, anxiety, or fear, we can tune our ears to his whisper. We can look to His entire creation and find Him within in. There is limitless access to our Good Shepherd. And when we encounter Him, we never leave the same.
