Voddie Baucham Urges Parents To Raise Godly Children In A Society That Opposes Bible Instruction

Instagram user @thechristianmother shared Voddie Baucham’s sermon clip, in which he encouraged parents to raise godly children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Pastor Voddie delivered his message based on Ephesians 6:1 and 4. It says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right… Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”

According to the pastor, we live in a society that opposes Bible instruction. The world has taught principles that completely contradict what the Word of God has said.

Some of the worldly principles include: “Your children are not yours;” “Children, obey the state for this is right;” “Children, obey your feelings for this is right;” “Parents, obey your children’s feelings for this is right.”

Because of this, children have been led to wrong validations and affirmations. Pastor Voddie explained, “So if Johnny comes to you and says that Johnny is now Susie, it is your job not to instruct Johnny that he’s not Susie but to instruct Susie that you affirm her as Susie.”

That is how the world has taught parents to raise their children. They are now under their children’s instruction in disciplining and raising them.

Moreover, parents who raise their children in the Word of God are greatly frowned upon in society. Nevertheless, Christian parents should strengthen themselves and go against what the world has laid down.

Raise Godly Children

@thechristianmother wrote to fellow parents, “I want to strengthen and remind you that the Lord has entrusted 𝗨𝗦 with the children He has given us. And it’s our DUTY and obligation as parents to direct our children, teach them right from wrong, correct them when they’re doing or believing something that isn’t truth.”

She added, “Parents are to bring their children up under the discipline and instruction of the Lord – to learn to love and trust and obey Jesus in His commands, but they’re not to provoke their children to anger- we’re not to discipline our children out of our own anger. We’re not to frustrate or discourage them. We’re to correct them so that they can see God’s goodness and learn to be a disciple of Jesus.”

Her message and Pastor Voddie’s sermon are critical today. This should be passed on to Christian parents so that they continue to raise their children in God’s truth.
