Faith Huh shared a powerful testimony about how God guided her to become a pastor by not answering some of her prayers.
Faith Huh
Faith Huh, the Director of the Children’s Ministry at New York Beloved Church, shared her powerful testimony. Upon graduating from high school, she aspired to attend Harvard University—a fervent prayer. However, God did not answer this prayer. Consequently, she ended up enrolling at Emory University, which was just 15 minutes away from her home. She humbly acknowledged that it wasn’t where she had hoped to be.
During her college years, she devoted herself to God and committed her weekends to Him.
“Instead of staying at college, doing whatever I wanted on my campus, I went back home on the weekends. And I serve at church,” she said.
While serving God, she prayed extensively for her future, desiring to do what was right in God’s eyes, seeking His guidance. Subsequently, she navigated through various seasons in life. One month, she was a pre-law student, and the next month, she aspired to be a diplomat. She found herself oscillating back and forth, unsure of her true calling.
God wasn’t Answering some of her Prayers
Furthermore, she shared that despite dedicating ample time to prayer at church, she observed that others were progressing in their careers while she felt as though she was lagging behind. Consequently, she prayed fervently for a breakthrough. However, what unfolded was unexpected. She almost did not graduate and barely completed her tasks on time. Consequently, instead of receiving her diploma in the spring, she ended up graduating in the summer.
Moreover, she emphasized, “So far, it seems like God is answering my prayers backwards, right? He’s doing everything I said not to do.” However, God granted her a break in the midst of it all, and she was accepted at Yale University. Initially envisioning herself becoming a Doctor of Philosophy and a professor, she found that path unexpectedly shut down. Despite continued prayers throughout her journey, it appeared to her that the Lord was not responding.
An Important Prayer
Contrary to her initial belief, she later discovered that God had answered one of her crucial prayers: “Lord, let your will be done.” Reflecting on her journey, she recognized that God guided her to persist in attending church and listening to His word because her calling was to become a pastor. God directed her to New York Beloved Church, where she currently serves.
Lastly, she remarked, “By worldly standards, some people might think that I failed miserably. But there’s something that I learned during this time of staying in the tent of the Lord, even when I was failing. That if I want something, I need to stay in the presence of God. I need to ask again and again and again.”
