As the Director of Marketing for the five star Marriott chain I have visited many places and found more broken and destitute people that resembled the old me. In 2017 the Lord prompted me to start feeding street families that were homeless and the support I got from my friends was overwhelming. Thus, Feeding Hungry Homes was born. For the last four years we have fed over 600 families and worked with the pastors in different districts who register people in dire situations.
Robert Cummings once viewed the Madonna & Child painting. His opinion was that there were many areas of the painting that seemed out of order. Then he realized that it was not meant to be viewed in a museum, but was meant to viewed by one on their knees in worship. Once on his knees his perception of the painting shifted and he could see the perfect a work of the Master.
Likewise, when we view the world in an attitude of worship to G-D, everything looks and will feel different.
A Poem In Response To The Need
Here I stand, at every corner and on every street,
Praying you would look my way,
I know your busy and I’m a distraction,
I’m sorry and do apologize, but still I stand praying you would look my way,
Your sudden glance gives me hope, that may be, just maybe,
You would notice my outstretched hand,
For it is my symbol of hope, my banner of desperation,
That our glance would bring a light into my darkness,
Because here I stand, awaiting the dawn of your light,
Just to brighten my delusion and being warmth to my soul,
Here I stand that once in a while, a candle of light might just pass me by,
Here I stand with outstretched hand,
It is my symbol of hope, it is my banner to all,
That I beg, yes! I do beg, but not for myself,
Here I stand as a reminder to you dear passerby,
Though you busy you may be, I stand for those who cannot stand,
For the in their darkness and shame, their weight is much,
For no human scale can comprehend their plight,
Here I stand, a candle of hope
Amidst the rushing world wind of life, just to beg
That you be their candle, a light for their darkness,
A strength for them to rise once more and stand again,
For they are called “Les Misérables” – The Miserable Ones.
Written for the many I stand for, who have not stood for many a day.
– Dr. David. Nicolle
