In a recent sermon, Joyce Meyer shared a powerful message about maintaining proper priorities. She offered practical tips that encouraged everyone to enhance their Bible reading habits and spend more time with God.

When Joyce Meyer was meditating on Deuteronomy 8, she came across a word that was profoundly life-changing for her.
“It basically taught me how to seek God, for God,” she said. “Not for what He can do for us. We have to be very careful about seeking God’s hand and not seeking His face.”
She went on to explain that if she were to draw a comparison with her children, she would prefer them to approach her out of love and a desire to spend time with her, rather than solely seeking something from her.

Similarly with God, Jesus should take precedence in a believer’s life, and they should seek His presence more than His blessings. Joyce Meyer shared that one of the most common questions she was asked is, “How do you keep your priorities straight?”
She answered this question with a series of questions:
Joyce Meyer Talks About Priorities
- What are we doing with our time?
- Are we putting time into relationships?
- Are we living a life now that we’re going to be happy with later on?
- Or are we investing our time?
- Are we wasting our time?
“There’s so many things out in the world to draw us away from the things that are the most important that we have to constantly be,” she said. “Every once in a while we have to look at our lives, we have to look at our time. If you don’t ever take the time to do that and make the adjustments that you need to, basically what’s going to happen is we’re going to end up pretty much living a useless life.”
God Deserves The Best
Understanding your priorities is essentially answering this question: where do you invest your time? For believers, dedicating time to Jesus is vital for the growth and depth of our relationship with God. He deserves our best, not just what remains after everything else.
“I’m telling you, this morning I got up, got my coffee, and I went to my room. And I don’t come out until I’m pretty sure I can act decent. And some days it takes more time than the others, but most days it’s an hour and a half to two hours to get me up to where I need to be,” Joyce Meyer said.
“We’re not supposed to just have a bumper sticker and go to church on Sunday and then act like the rest of everybody else the rest of the week. We gotta get this in order before we get out in the world: am i ready to walk in love, and be kind, and nice?” she concluded.
