Underprivileged kids were given a chance to choose between a gift for themselves and a gift for their parents. What they chose was tear-jerking!
Christmas
Christmas is a joyful season that is mean to be celebrated with families. It also the time of the year where most receive or give gifts. However, for some families, that’s usually not the case. Some underprivileged families don’t have enough to even buy Christmas trees or gifts for their loved ones.
Social Experiment
So the Boys & Girls Clubs Of Metro Atlanta conducted a social experiment where kids from low-income families were allowed to choose one gift. They could either choose a gift they wanted for themselves or a gift for their family.
They choose a gift for parents
It seemed to be a tough question for these kids but in the end, they all chose the gift for their family. When asked why they made that decision, it was truly a tear-jerking moment!
“Because Lego’s don’t matter. Your family matters, not Lego’s, not toys, your family. So is it the family or Lego’s and I choose the family,” one boy said.
Some chose the gift for their family to give back to them.
“I could get gifts every year from my family and mom don’t get anything,” one girl said.
It’s amazing to know how these kids are so willing to sacrifice what they wanted just to show their love for their family.
“I get the laptop, my mom will lose something,” another kid said.
At the end of the experiment, they were given both gifts. Upon finding out what their kids chose, their parents became emotional.
More than the gifts, more than the lights, what matters most is the love of your family. Let this season be a reminder that over 2000 years ago, a Man died for us because of His love!
