Remembering the 9-11 attacks and how the Lord moved in Manhattan after that frightening event.

Get Real

In an episode of Get Real with host Ron Cantor, pastor Ron Lewis, co-founder & senior minister of Every Nation Church in New York City, shares his experience during the 9-11 attack in the city. Right after the attack, Ron went to the site to extend his help to those in need. But after seeing the ruins of the Twin Towers, he heard God’s voice saying that He’s going to do something out of that event.

“I saw the smoke billowing up and something happened Ron that was a game-changer for me,” Ron said. “What turned from lamenting and slumber turned to hope at that moment when I heard these words: out of these ashes, I will build a great church.”

9-11 Attacks

Together with Darryl Strawberry of Bethel Outreach Church in Tennessee, they responded to God’s calling. They started a church in one of the theatres in Manhattan and soon after, they’ve seen miracles happening over the city. Lives are being transformed, people are coming to Jesus, and revival is happening over New York City.

“That 9-11 event really was a turning point for the move of God in the city,” he highlighted. “Because what was then less than 1% grew to 3% and now I’ve heard it’s in 4% or even 5% believers in Manhattan.”

Revival

God’s light shines the brightest during the darkest moments. That’s what God did over New York City, He turned the ashes from the 9-11 attacks into something good. He is showing His glory over His people in this city!

“There is something about the intensity and the darkness of New York City. When something is really dark, the light shines even brighter… God was already there but all of a sudden, people’s lives are being dramatically changed and some incredible stories were happening.”

IHOP Director Shares Past Challenges He Experienced While Leading A Ministry

IHOP Director Mike Bickle shares some of the past challenges he experienced while leading a ministry.

In an episode of Get Real with host Ron Cantor, Mike shares his real story. He revealed the struggles he experienced in the past as he began responding to the call of God. The first struggle he shared is how he created his own picture of success as he read successful ministers’ biographies.

Mike boldly claimed that biographies have some lies in them, or they hide the ugly parts of their story. Oftentimes, biographies only talk about the success and the victories people had. They often omit the challenges, issues, and struggles they faced along the way.

“Exaggeration in storytelling about ministry, i.e. biographies, often leaves the reader under this false sense of what’s doable and it doesn’t work that way for them and they get condemned, they feel God doesn’t love them.”

The next thing he shares is his major mistakes in ministry. That mistake is not seeing the ministries and the people around him more clearly. In the past, he wasn’t able to connect with people more, he only focused on his own ministry.

“I wish I would have seen the bigger picture more clearly, I would have seen the value of the ministries around me. I would have seen the hurting people in my midst more, I would have communicated the struggle in prayer and growing spiritually better.”

Challenges

Lastly, he shares how he struggles with prophecy. Mike is a man who is deeply rooted and dependent on the Word of God. Because of that, he had a hard time dealing with the prophetic. As more people dived in the prophetic in his ministry, the Lord then revealed to him how to handle it.

“It’s good but never ever let it take the place of the written Word of God in your personal devotional life, in your conversation with the Lord.”

If you are also a ministry leader or a church leader who’s being faced with struggles right now, know that you are not alone. It is normal to encounter problems. All you have to do is to lay down every issue you have and trust that the Lord will move into that situation.

How God Birthed A Drama Production Out Of One Man’s Time Of Distress

Michael Boles shared how God birthed a drama production out of his time of distress.

In an episode of Get Real with host Ron Cantor, Michael, the senior pastor of Evangel Temple Church in Meridian, Mississippi, shared how God encountered him one night during his darkest time. Back in 1988, Michael set up a recording studio where they recorded music with his team. However, they started to have a problem among their team members.

While his music recording studio is failing, Michael’s wife became very ill. His wife’s illness became worse and they were even told by doctors that she might die from the illness. It seemed like the darkest moment of his life until God encountered him.

Encounter

One night, Michael came to his recording studio. With lights turned off, he sat on the sofa feeling hopeless and desperate. Suddenly God’s presence felt on the room and encountered him. Michael didn’t know how to play the keyboard but he played the keyboard that night and created music. It’s as if God was guiding his hands while he played.

“The presence of the Lord was in that room, so powerful, I would never forget it,” Michael recalled.

For three days straight, with still the tangible presence of God in that studio, Michael created a production. That was when the drama production of Evangel Temple Church started.

“When the Holy Spirit anoints you, that’s what makes the difference,” he said.

Drama Production

Michael knew God wants to bring people to Him through the drama that they produce. They started to create a team and produce more dramas. Two years after that memorable encounter, they built a theatre that holds 700 people.

“God is doing something here and I believe that He wants us to take this, build a drama out of it. We begin working out of the church, God was using carpenters, plumbers.”

Thousands of people are being led to God through the Holy Spirit-filled dramas that Michael is producing. As the success of their drama production continued, God miraculously healed Michaels’ wife!

“I just can’t believe it but God had put His touch on me. We knew it was God, we had no doubt in our mind. Through that, my wife was miraculously healed.”

God can turn even the most hopeless situation into good. If you are someone facing a difficult situation right now, hold on to the hope in Jesus Christ. Just as God turned Pastor Michael’s hopeless situation around, He will do it for you also, just have hope.

Nobody Prophesies With 100% Accuracy

Nobody can prophesy a hundred percent accurate prophecy.

Many of today’s churches are facing a big issue with the prophetic ministry. In an episode of Get Real with host Ron Cantor, Dr. Joseph Mattera, founder of Mattera Ministries International, reveals to us the issue that many are facing regarding the prophetic ministry.

Today’s Body of Christ is often failing to check or confirm the word release by a prophet. In 1 Thessalonians 5:21, it is written that we should test everything, which includes prophetic words.

“But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:21

“When you do away with checking balance, you have people that are ignorant and unlearned and lack discernment that is just following blindly these prophetic words and prophetic people,” Dr. Joseph said.

Accurate Prophecy

One of the things that bring problems to the Body of Christ when it comes to prophetic ministries is when we claim that the prophetic word absolutely came from God. Because when we do so, no one can test that word because no one can judge God.

“When I’m giving prophecies, I say, “I believe the Lord is saying this,” because if I say, ‘The Lord is saying this,’ how can anyone judge God?”

In addition to that, no one can accurately prophesy. Today’s prophecies are different than the old testament prophecies. We now need the Word of God and His church to judge every prophetic word released.

“Nobody prophesies a hundred percent accurately and/or a hundred percent of the picture of what God is saying. That’s why we need the body to judge it.”

Unlike the old testament where only chosen prophets are allowed to give word, we all now have the gift of prophesy. Unlike the old testament where only prophets could directly talk to God, we now all have the Holy Spirit in us. Everyone can prophesy and everyone can receive a word from God. Let us just keep in mind that everything should be tested and that we can’t prophesy 100% accurately.

“He gives us the right to prophesy even though we only know in part prophesying. The old testament prophet is a lot different from the new testament patterns of prophecy.”

Married Couple Shares The Highs And Lows Of Working Together In Ministry

On a recent episode of Get Real, Ben and Jodie Hughes of Pour It Out Ministries share with Ron Cantor the issues they encountered as a married couple working together in ministry. The couple who has been married for over 23 years shared how both their strong personalities often lead to conflicts. They also shared how God has worked in their lives through the years to draw them together.

“We’ve fought like crazy many times and often. But we’ve made a priority individually and together that we want to be in the presence of God,” Jodie said. “Somehow, when you hate each other in those moments. And you come into the presence of God, God does a real work in your heart.”

Marriage Issues

Ben then encouraged other couples that there’s always hope in every situation because our God is the God of the impossible.

“There’s hope to be found in the fact that problems can be solved,” Ben said. “Problems are solvable and also that God is truly the God of the impossible.”

Whenever there’s a situation that seems to be affecting your marriage, run to God and let Him heal both your hearts.

“In the context of marriage, if something hurts, it’s okay to go to God and say, ‘God, I need help right now and I need healing in my heart,’” Jodie added.

Ministers

“You can’t minister to somebody until you’ve dealt with this stuff in your own heart,’ Ben emphasized.

How Can We Prophesy In Accordance With Scripture?

“Can prophecy go wrong?” That is a common question from Christians that aspire to be prophets. Giving a correct prophecy is crucial and the gift of prophesying should not be taken lightly. Now how can we prophesy in accordance with the Scripture?

In the first episode of Get Real with host Ron Cantor, Dr. Kim Maas got real about prophesying. Before the US election, Dr. Kim prophesied a win for former President Donald Trump. That prophecy became a huge issue during that time.

Prophecy

Dr. Kim shared with Ron how she ended up in that situation and looked back where her errors occurred. She even emphasized that wrong prophecies have damaged the Church before. She then continued to share a message highlighting that when we prophesy, we need first to have a good theological foundation.

“When we begin to teach, we need to have a theological foundation that is right and good and settled on what the Kingdom of God really is. The Kingdom of God is not America, the Kingdom of God is not any nation on the earth. The Kingdom of God is not of this world and the King of that Kingdom is Jesus,” she said. “Most of the prophetic scriptures in the old testament are fulfilled in Christ. So we have to have an understanding of scriptures so that we interpret scripture correctly and apply it well. Otherwise, we do say crazy things.”

Preparing the Church

Dr. Kim believes that God is preparing His Church today for a new wave of revival.

“God is setting us up for a new wave of evangelism. God is wanting to prepare the Church, He wants to look at everything we do right now. Correct our theology, correct our hearts, cleanse and bring corrections.”

In the recent episode of getting Real with Ron Cantor, guest Dr. Michael Brown sits down to talk about a very sensitive topic. He talked about how people, even well-known Christian personalities, easily fall into sinning. The simple explanation about it is because grace can be abused by those who have received it.

“Grace by its very nature can be abused… That’s why we always must walk in the fear of the Lord,” Dr. Michael said. “That’s why the grace of God is not an excuse for sin rather it’s empowerment to live above sin.”

Grace

He then continued to reference verses in Titus to emphasize that grace teaches us to say no to ungodliness.

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age.” – Titus 2:11-12

Aftermath of sin

Every sin has a penalty that every sinner has to pay. To turn away from the temptation, it is helpful to always remember the aftermath of that sin. Remember how would that sin affect your family, your ministry, and even your own life.

“See the penalty and fruit of sin now before you commit to sin and you’ll never walk that thing out,” he emphasized.

How to avoid sinning?

When asked how could one avoid sinning, Dr. Michael gave a short yet profound answer: intimacy with the Lord.

”When you’re really meeting with the Lord, when you’re intimate with Him, when you’re loving Jesus, you’re just not gonna be able to live that double life.”
