Gary Stearman answers why the Book of Enoch is not included in the Bible although a Bible author mentioned it.
The Book of Enoch
Author and pastor Gary Stearman loves to teach deeper things about the Bible. And he has been asked about many things of the the Holy Scripture. One of which is about the Book of Enoch.
The question went, “Why isn’t the book of Enoch in the Bible since we see it in the Bible and God’s love for Enoch?”
The Bible listed Enoch as Noah’s great-grandfather. He was also the father of Methuselah, the longest-living man.
Enoch lived faithfully to the Lord that he had escaped physical death because of his relationship with God. Hebrews 11:5 says, “By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: ‘He could not be found, because God had taken him away.’ For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.”
But there are other mentions of Enoch in the Bible that indicate he had his own book. Jude who referred to Enoch’s writings when he warned ungodly people of their judgment.
Jude 1:14-15 says, “Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: ‘See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.'”

So, why isn’t the Book of Enoch, whom the writer was precious to God, included in the Bible?
Gary answers, “Enoch is mentioned in the Bible as an Old Testament marker. But the Book of Enoch is not Scripture. It is history. And it’s a very, very dark history of something that happened before the great flood.”
He continued, “The story [of the fallen angels] can be accessed but the spiritual gain… that is a spiritual lesson has gained from studying the fallen angels, it is probably best left to the scholars or to someone who has exceptional interests in the Old World.”
