4 Steps On How Not To Be A Lukewarm Christian

A Christian YouTuber shared four steps on how not to become a lukewarm Christian.

Alex Wilson, a Christian YouTuber with over 539,000 followers, recently shared about the verse Revelation 3:14 -20. In that Scripture, the Lord is warning the church in Laodicea He would spit them out if they continue to be lukewarm Christians. However, the Lord also promised them that if they go all in for the Lord, He will be with them.

So how then can we go all in for the Lord and not live life as lukewarm Christians? Alex shared four steps that the Lord revealed to us through those verses.

Step # 1: Wake

For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. – Revelation 3:17

“To wake is to realize, to realize you’ve been sleeping, to realize you’re not as rich or as prosperous or as perfect as you think you are.”

Apart from the Lord, we are nothing. We all needed God for our righteousness, we all needed to wake up and realize how much of a mess we are if we continue to rely on our own understanding and not on God.

Step # 2: Take

I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. -Revelations 3:18

“He’s saying ‘Buy from Me your righteousness.’ He’s saying ‘Take from Me.’ Jesus is saying ‘Take from Me My righteousness’ because you don’t have the righteousness of your own… To take means to trust in, to believe.”

To run to Jesus Christ is acknowledging how much we need God’s help to live a righteous life.

Step #3: Shake

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. -Revelations 3:20

“Looking at Jesus’ eyes and shaking His hands means welcoming Him into your life. Have you done that?”

The Lord is just right at your front door, waiting for you to answer Him. Let Him into your life.

Step #4: Cake

If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him, and he with me. -Revelations 3:20

“When we shake His hands, when we open up that door, He says He will come in and dine with us. To eat with someone is an intimate thing”

Commune with Him, dine with Him, be one with Him because that’s how you go all in for the Lord. Jesus Himself gave His all to save us from the fires of hell.

“Jesus submersed Himself completely into death and into the wrath of God so you and I could be all in for God’s purpose.”

Now is the time to also go all in for the Lord. He is calling you not to be a lukewarm Christian.

The Four Steps of the Holy Spirit Resolution Solution

New Year’s Resolutions

Chances are you are considering making ‘resolutions’ for the upcoming new year. It is said that more than 40% of Americans make a New Year’s resolution. But according to a University of Scranton study, only 8% achieve their self-improvement resolutions. I want to encourage you to not be disheartened by these statistics if you will be making resolutions coming in to 2019. Instead, rely on the Holy Spirit to help you succeed!

With God, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37). You are a temple of the Holy Spirit. Thus, if you make a resolution to eat healthier, exercising more or quitting a bad habit, your motivation is pure (1 Corinthians 6:19). However, whatever your New Year’s resolutions will be this year, consider making Holy Spirit Resolution Solutions side by side with them. With the empowerment of the Holy Spirit you will accomplish and succeed in His revealed will and resolutions for you.

Holy Spirit Resolution Solution Steps

One of the first steps in making a Holy Spirit Resolution Solution is to commit to the Lord. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.” And Psalm 37:5 says, “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He will bring it to pass.” Committing everything to the Lord, asking His wonderful Holy Spirit to empower you. He’ll be giving you insights to what He wants to accomplish through you this year.

Second, write down His vision for you. In Scripture, when the Lord God gave insight or vision to His people, He told them to write it out. He instructed Habbakuk to write the vision, and the Apostle John (Habbakkuk 2:2, Revelation 1:19). It is exciting to write down the vision God has for you!

Third, ask someone to hold you accountable to God’s leading in this endeavor. Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” The New Testament reiterates this concept in 1st Thessalonians 5:11, saying, “So comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, just as you are doing.” This shows the importance of being a member of a local church where you make friendships with fellow Christians, growing together in Christ as a community of faith.

Finally, do what the Holy Spirit shows you with confirmation from Scripture. Out of love for Christ, keep His commands as you apply His resolution solution for your life (John 14:15 and 15:14). If you apply these four steps in partnership with the Holy Spirit, I believe that you will be more empowered. And you’ll be having greater success in the Holy Spirit’s resolutions for your new year!

The Four ‘R’s of Deliverance Ministry in Setting Captives Free

When I started in ministry, I came across a lot of deliverance ministry models. Seeing that some achieved great results and others were similar to a horror movie displayed on a stage. It was confusing at first in my pursuit of understanding the wonderful ministry of seeing people delivered and transforming for God’s glory.

Soon, I started walking in the anointing. And people were being set free similar to biblical accounts. They were being set free from tormenting thoughts, bad habits, addictions, night terrors and other demonic oppression. With each deliverance, I praised God, and wanting to know more in order to help other people be set free.

I had a deep hunger in knowing how to have a biblical deliverance ministry. I was reading almost anything shedding light on the topic. However, I was also spending extended times praying and studying Scripture. What I came across helped me when confronting spiritual attacks and seeing precious people set free.

You Can Do Deliverance Like Jesus

When studying Jesus’ ministry on deliverance I saw four major things I needed to take into consideration:

1. Jesus loves all people and wants everyone to be saved and free. He came to set the captives free, fulfilling Isaiah 61:1-3.

2. Jesus silenced the enemy. Luke 4:41 says, “And demons came out of many, crying out, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of God!’ But He rebuked them and did not permit them to speak. Because they knew that He was the Christ.”

3. Jesus rebuked the enemy. Matthew 17:18 says, “Jesus rebuked the demon, and he came out of him.” He took charge, having authority over the evil spirits. Censoring and deleting them from the person’s life.

4. Jesus cast them out, commanding them never to return. Near the end of Mark 9:25, it says, “He rebuked the foul spirit, saying to it, ‘You mute and deaf spirit. I command you, come out of him, and enter him no more!'”

Knowing these lessons of how Jesus did deliverance, I came up with an easy-to-remember, four-step deliverance ministry process. This method is grounded in Scripture, equipping you in seeing Jesus setting captives free

The Four ‘R’s of Deliverance Ministry

In an attitude of love, I would minister to the person that God wants to set free. Leading the person in these four steps for total freedom:

1. Repent: I would ask the person to pray, repenting of their sins and acknowledging what the Scripture says aligning them with God’s Word and will. We would quote and pray Scripture and affirm its truth.

2. Renounce: The person would verbally be renouncing their sins and the evil spirits that may be clutching on, commanding them to leave in Jesus name and never return. Out of dignity, love and honor for the person we are ministering to, we shouldn’t tolerate demonic manifestations because Jesus didn’t allow them. And there may be some manifestation. But we should do all we can ensuring we’re ministering freedom to the individual and not give the enemy opportunity to “show off.”

3. Renew: The person would entrust their faith in Christ, declaring that He is Lord of everything in their life, and ask for the fruit of the Spirit and to abide by Christlike character. If they didn’t have a relationship with Jesus, then in applying Romans 10:9-10, they would be saved. If they are Christians, this declaration is reaffirming their commitment and is a milestone in their life. And I would pray Scripture over them that would be the opposite qualities or character traits of the demonic spirits we cast out of the person. If we had cast out a spirit of fear, I would quote Bible verses on courage and strength, and power. Or if casting out a spirit of lust, we would pray self-control and love into their lives.

The Final Step is the Infilling of the Spirit

4. Refresh: This would be the final step, where the person is being baptized with the Spirit. Praying and worshiping, we’re asking God to fill them, giving them a personal prayer language. If they’ve been baptized with the Spirit, we would ask for a fresh infilling. As a result, they could receive joy, or a deep peace with the Spirit or encountering God with a vision. This is what I call the “house concept” from Matthew 12:43-45. When emptying them of the demonic oppression, we’re always ensuring they are filled with the Spirit. This is so that evil spirits do not return to their prior living space in the person’s life.

Every situation is unique. We must be discerning and attentive to the incredible Holy Spirit. But I found these steps to be helpful in ministering freedom in Jesus Name. And it has been amazing to see Jesus setting the captives free.
