A mom who lost her 13-year-old son in a auto accident chose to forgive the drunk driver who ran him over. She even invited the offender to her home. She modeled Christ to her 8-year-old son still living with her.
13-Year-Old Ran Over By A Drunk Driver
James Burnside shared on social media how his mom demonstrated the love of Christ to a supposed enemy. Although it was painful, it radically changed his life growing up.When James was eight years old, he had a 13-year-old older brother. But lost him due to an accident. Apparently, he jumped on a motorcycle and went down the road, where a drunk driver was driving and was hit. Sadly, the 13-year-old passed away that same day.
Mom Chooses To Forgive
Losing his brother broke James’ heart. Later, he was shocked when his mother invited the drunk driver who killed his brother to their home. He was even more puzzled because his mom invited the woman to stay for a meal.
The eight-year-old James doubted and questioned his mom’s actions. He asked, “Mom, what are you doing? You’re going to feed this woman? She ran over my brother..”
Later when the woman arrived at their house, James saw his mom hugging the offender, whom he deemed “the enemy.”
“Moy mom implemented Romans 12,” he remarked in tears. “That’s modeling Christ.”
As excerpted in Romans 12:21, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
The Love of Christ
Although James resisted and questioned his mom as a little boy, it radically impacted his life. The love and forgiveness his mom showed the women instilled in his young mind what it meant to love like Christ.
May this true-to-life story encourage us to forgive those we think are undeserving of our forgiveness. Let’s live out what has been written in the Scripture and be the love-being to those around us for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
