The Presidential daughter wrote on her Twitter account her gratitude for being a part of the food drive. “Grateful to spend the morning this Holiday Season in VA passing out boxes loaded with fresh and nutritious sourced from local farms.”

She noted, “Our Farmers to Families Food Box program continues to feed billions of meals to families in need across the Nation – over 3.2B to date!”
Christ Chapel in Woodbridge, VA, hosted the drive. “During this pandemic, our Administration has supported small, family farms,” she further stated. “Kept our food suppliers employed and fed billions of families in need through our Farmers to Families program.”
According to the program’s official website, the group has purchased more than 3.6 billion worth of food from the farmers. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act initiated the program. It began when the need arose during the pandemic. The group tapped the distributors and workforce greatly impacted by the closure of restaurants, hotels, and other food-serving businesses. According to Ivanka, the program has already helped 16,000 non-profits.
Furthermore, she stated that the program had supported more than 200 farms and distributors and 5,000 American jobs.
“This program is working for everyone,” she said. “Which is why we will provide an additional $1 billion for our Farmers to Families Food Box Program. This new commitment will provide certainty for those in need and to our American farmers and ranchers who feed, fuel, and sustain our great Nation.”
