Life is busy and with it come a lot of demands. So, what are you doing to take care of your soul? The Bible teaches us how to live a life of rest. It teaches us that rest is holy, and that you can find rest for your soul.

In a message about feasting on daily bread, Katherine said, “He makes us lie down in green pastures, and He restores our soul. If we don’t take time to let Him restore our soul daily, before long, you find yourself a little bit stressed.”
It’s so important for believers to live from a place of rest by spending time in the presence of God. We were made to worship Him!
How To Live A Life Of Rest
God set us an example by resting on the seventh day and calling it holy.
“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation” (Genesis 2:1-3).
Rest is holy. It requires us to let go of control and to take time away from our usual tasks.
We can also live a life of rest by feasting on daily bread. You were made to walk with God and to live a life of peace on the inside. Walking with God is abiding in Jesus. When we take His yoke upon us, and learn from Him, we can walk through circumstances in peace.
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:5-6).
Jesus said that man does not live on bread alone. “But he answered, ‘It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God’” (Matthew 4:4).

Application
Take a moment to identify the things that are causing stress in your life. Is there a way to rearrange your day so that you have time to spend with Jesus? It doesn’t have to be long hours, but instead intentional time of prayer and reading the Bible, and being aware of God.
When a stressful moment happens, what is your response? Do you turn to Jesus, or do you turn to something else? Take time and ask the Holy Spirit to help you.
Write out a few Bible verses that you can memorize or pull out of your pocket when you need help remembering to turn to Jesus. You can write some declarations based on those verses. For example: “You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies. You are my good Shepherd! I will walk through this with you! You will never leave me!”
Jesus is our good Shepherd. He has the answer to every problem. He will lead you through the tough times!
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for being my Shepherd. Thank you that I can live a life of rest, because you are with me. Holy Spirit, please remind me to stay in step with you, and help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. Amen.
