Pastor James Griffin shares a biblical perspective on managing and stewarding a Christian’s financial life. He said, “If you want to flourish in your finances, obey God with your money.”

In his recent sermon video on his Instagram account, Pastor James imparts a timeless pearl of wisdom on financial stewardship. He stressed the importance of obeying God with our money. And how can we achieve that? He gave a simple framework, “Give, save, and live off the rest.”
He said, “Obey God with your money. A real simple framework for what to do with your money: you give, you save, you live off the rest. It’s really about that easy.”
Pastor James continued, “If you want to flourish in your finances, start with generosity, okay? And then put some money away because the Bible says that wise stewards they leave an inheritance for even their grandchildren. And then what do you do with the rest of it? You live off that.”
He pointed out that financial well-being should be aligned with the principles in the Bible. And the Bible teaches that it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).
Flourish your finances
Moreover, he advocates saving for the future. Proverbs 21:20 says, “The wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends whatever he gets.” Meanwhile, Proverbs 13:22 says, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his grandchildren, but the sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.”
A wise man, according to the Bible, saves because he not only keeps himself protected from future crises but also leaves a portion as a legacy for his loved ones.
However, Pastor James also warned about excessive spending, as it can lead one to drown in debt and hinder themselves from giving and saving. He said, “I would even say you don’t go into a massive amounts of debt, buying stuff you don’t need, so that it straps from you from being generous or saving. If you do it God’s way, your money is going to work better.”
