Despite the implemented social distancing, neighbors found a way to surprise and celebrate with Coco. Coco just finished her final round of chemotherapy treatment.
15-year-old Courtney “Coco” Johnson has been fighting Ewing Sarcoma since June 2019. Ewing Sarcoma is a type of cancer that forms in bone or soft tissue. But on March 24, Coco finally finished her chemotherapy. As they were on their way to their Los Angeles home, she did not expect to see her friends and loved ones with signs, balloons and streamers on the streets. Even in this time of pandemic, her friends and loved ones made sure they were able to welcome Coco home.
April Danz, Coco’s mother, was able to capture the heartwarming event. She shared the video with actor John Krasinski when he asked his fans to share some good news on Twitter.
We Are Still Praising God In The Face Of Calamity
She responded Krasinski’s tweet, “My daughter, Coco, finished her final chemo treatment yesterday, and our friends had a surprise social distancing welcome home parade for her!”

Social Distancing Parade
More than 70 people were lined up in the streets. They were cheering for her. Since Coco is especially vulnerable to COVID-19, they expressed their love for Coco through waving and clapping for her in their decorated cars. The warmth she received from them welled up Coco’s eyes with tears of joy.
April told TODAY, “She couldn’t believe what they had done for her.”
Krasinski admitted that the parade was one of the greatest things he has ever seen. He also welcomed Coco home as he replied to April Danz’s video.
This is the kind of community that strengthens each member who is a part of it. The love and support they give will surely encourage Coco!
