Jeremy Johnson shared a profound lesson for leaders and pastors that he learned from a marketing guy.
Jeremy Johnson
The lead pastor of Fearless Church, Jeremy Johnson, joined John Cameron on the “Declare War on Fear” podcast to talk about the lessons he learned from a marketing guy. He recalled how the marketing guy asked him, “Who is your church for?” Then Jeremy answered, “Oh, it’s for everyone.” The man replied, “Don’t give me that crap… That’s why I hate church because every time I go to a church, it’s for everyone.”
He then told Jeremy that he must have a verse about what he said. Jeremy then highlighted what Paul has said in 1 Corinthians 9:20-23, “To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means, I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel that I may share in its blessings.” The guy then commented that it was prideful for them to think that their church was for everyone.

A Lesson For Leaders And Pastors
The guy explained that it seemed like all the other churches needed to shut down because their church was for everyone. For him, this was not only weird but also prideful since it would convey that all the other churches were wrong. The man asked, “What if God is in theirs and yours? How does that work?”
Moreover, the man highlighted, “I’m not a Bible scholar. I’m just a marketing guy. I think maybe God has called you to a certain group of that everyone. And you need to figure out who that is. Because once you know who that is, you can build everything to connect with them.”
Since then, Jeremy learned to use the method that was shared with him. He believed that all the churches have the same message. However, as fishers of men, he recognized that not every fish was drawn by the same lure. So, when they built their church, he knew it was for the dreamers because that’s who he is.
