A man honored through a gathering of believers struck the hearts of Catch the Wave ministry. Dozens assisted a disabled father to an adventure with his wife and four sons on Father’s Day in 2021.
“Steve was in a debilitating accident that left him with brain damage rendering him unable to communicate, move voluntarily or interact with others” Chad Dedmon explains in his post.
The community desired to gift the family an experience with one another. As a surfer, Steve had previously taken his older children out on the water. But the incident changed everything-and had the potential to take that opportunity away from ever happening again.
“We’re taking a dad out with his sons on Father’s Day. He wouldn’t be able to do it if we didn’t show up,” Dedmon says on the video. “To be apart of that is pretty special. That’s love.”
Man Honored through creative work of hundreds
“Steve had surfed his whole life and taken his three oldest boys out prior to the accident, but the Catch the Wave community were able to take his wife and all five sons out to celebrate this amazing dad. The family were taken out on a giant board to catch party waves together.” The post caption explained.
Of those helping make the day happen, lifeguards stood by to monitor and be available, if needed.
“Off duty lifeguards assisted and a crew of 40 standing by to ensure safety. We witnessed the power of the community of hope as hundreds gathered to pray and honor Steve as a father.”
We are praying at the GOD TV team, that you would discover and become community like the one this father experienced. Across the world, may believers gather together in one spirit, as carriers of hope and God’s love.
