The big screen will portray the story of Kurt Warner from being a grocery checker into an NFL MVP.
American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story
Jon and Andrew Erwin will be directing “American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story”. It can be noted that some of the directed movies by the Erwins are I Still Believe, I can Only Imagine and Woodlawn.
Jon Erwin told Christian Headlines that Warner’s life is one of the greatest underdog stories he has heard. “And the story behind the story – the story that people don’t know – is even stronger. Kurt and Brenda are amazing friends. They’re amazing partners. That movie is going to be extraordinary. It’s like Jerry Maguire meets Rocky – from the supermarket to the Super Bowl.”

And Andrew Erwin said, “He was out of football for several years, playing Arena on the weekends and stocking shelves. He married a single mom who had two kids – one with special needs. He got one last shot [in the NFL] to fight for his family and made it all the way to the Super Bowl.”
Kingdom Story Company will produce the film. But the release date will be announced soon. Apparently, the movie would have to come out this December but the pandemic caused it to delay. Moreover, Lionsgate will release the faith-based film.
NFL MVP
National Football League branded Warner as the Most Valuable Player twice. And in 2000, he was named the Super bowl MVP after he led his team, St. Louis Rams, to victory.
Zachary Levi, who recently played the superhero Shazam¸will portray Warner in the movie. His tweet shows his excitement to play the role.
He wrote, “Beyond pumped for this one. Have always found @kurt13warner, and his family, and their journey, to be an uplifting and inspiring one. Can’t wait to bring their story to screens both large and small..”
Warner replied to Levi’s tweet.
