Are you living with insecurity in your life that is holding you back? Much of the body of Christ believes the lie that they need to shrink themselves from being confident, bold, or even successful to stay humble. This lie prevents believers from impacting the world in the way God designed them to, and ultimately, limits the Glory that they can bring to God. Maybe you have believed the lie that self-doubt is humility. Self-doubt is not humility.
The voice of humility says, “I know who I am and I don’t have to prove it. I trust God’s voice in my life.”
The voice of self-doubt says, “I must prove who I am in order to be recognized as such. I’m a fraud.”
How Can You Identify Self-Doubt in Your Own Life?
If you are living from humility, you possess the God-given confidence to live free and abundantly. You understand not just your own limitations, but how God shapes your imperfections into His glorious design. Self-doubt is the opposite of the Father’s heart for you. I challenge you to take captive your thoughts, throwing out those which do not align with the voice of humility and contradict what the Word of God says about you.
Prayers To Free Your Mind
Unlearning old thought patterns can feel daunting, but God is eager to bring your mind into right alignment with His Word. Here are three prayers to pray as you begin to release self-doubt from your life:
- “I repent of partnering with thoughts outside of what your Word says about me.”
- “Teach me, Holy Spirit, how to have thoughts and make choices that align with your thoughts toward me”
- “Let me become a leader to others who struggle with insecurity, modeling what confidence and true humility in you look like”
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
