The executive pastor of One Potters House, Stephanie Ike, talked about breaking generational curses in the “Girls Gone Bible” Podcast. According to her, the key thing about the generational curse was to have a revelation of what this is and to recognize its pattern. She encouraged people to be intentional in dealing with it.
Then, she explained that there hadn’t been a formula for this, but the key thing that people needed to do was to surrender and allow God to rewrite the story of their bloodline. After that, she shared that generational curses or familiar spirits didn’t happen by coincidence.
“There was agreement at some point in that lineage that opened the door to what was happening,” she discussed.

Generational Curse
Furthermore, she cited a verse in the Bible that would help people break the generational curses. In Isaiah 54:17, it is written, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord. She then highlighted that people needed to speak against the curses they were facing.
Moreover, she emphasized, “Somebody has to speak. Somebody has to. And that’s the place of prayer where you’re now saying, ‘Now, I am representing this bloodline. I’m coming out of agreement with this.’” She stressed that somebody has to rise in prayer and start proclaiming the promises of God for their generation. “Someone has to utter now something different than what was spoken or came in agreement with,” she continued.
Finally, she reminded listeners of the power of God’s word, stating, “The power is in His word. It’s in His word to reverse whatever was established by words… Whatever people spoke that brought them into agreement with something that has been against the family ever since.” This served as a beacon of hope, reassuring listeners that they have the tools to break free from generational curses.
