In the second post of this series, “A Supernatural Life” I concluded with the instruction that Jesus left us with in Matthew 10. Now, let’s look at what the evidence, or fruit, of a supernatural life in the spirit actually looks like.
Love Motivates Life in the Spirit
Not because it is perfect or polished, but because it focuses on a life with God’s agenda, not our own. In Jesus’s final words to the disciples, he commanded them to love one another.
“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:8-13)
If love motivates our thoughts, intentions, and actions, our lives will properly reflect one with Holy Spirit. This is true if we are home doing chores, working our jobs, or healing the sick. The love of God is not limited to just the miraculous with God, but is the foundation for everything that we do.
Think of the faithful grandparent you may know, who has a rich prayer life. Filled with the love of Jesus, they have prayed daily for each of their family members, interceding on their behalf. Or the school teacher determined to change the life of their students. For weeks, they show up to work filled with the love of Jesus for their colleagues and students. The foundation of their life in the spirit is the love of God.
A prayer for you today: God, fill this reader with a deep revelation of how you are Love. God, help them understand your true love as our Father. Let their heart be filled to receive you as a Father.
