Emy Moore shares advice on what to do when in fearful situations.

The Christian social media influencer references 1 John 4:18-19 to share useful advice to everyone. When in any fearful situation, remember that the perfect love can drive out those fears. Instead of being overwhelmed by the feeling of fear, confront it head-on with love, and that perfect love is Jesus.

“When I hear that perfect love drives out all fear, I’m no longer coming to fear and trying to battle it with fear or conflict or complaints or my own thoughts or with a fight. We are supposed to confront fear with love. I think sometimes when we’re in the midst of fear, it’s really easy to consume that and to be in the stance of worry and doubt when love dries out all of that. But not just love, perfect love and perfect love has to do with Jesus.”

Fearful Situations

Emy then shared how she focuses on Jesus when she finds herself in terrifying moments. When you are in the presence of love, then nothing can go against you.

“As I am in times where I feel fearful or doubtful, instead of trying to indulge in it, everything can be driven out by looking at Jesus. Jesus really is the answer to everything… When you’re in the element of love, fear cannot stay. Doubt cannot stay, troubles cannot stay, anything that is apart from God cannot stay when you are living in the element of love.”

So, whenever you’re in such a situation, remember to look for Jesus in those circumstances and invite Him in. Jesus is the answer to all our fears.

“If you’re in a situation where you are feeling fearful and doubtful, take your mind out of fear for a second and see how love can be applied in the midst of it, how can you invite Jesus in. Look to His Word.”

Love casts out all fear.

Taking thoughts captive

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5

In a recent Saved Not Soft podcast, host Emy Moore discussed what to do whenever we’re being overwhelmed by our thoughts. She explained that it is truly hard to take our thoughts captive during those moments when our thoughts are so overwhelming.

“It’s hard for us to take thoughts captive because thoughts can be very very loud. How do I take captive of this thought if it’s right in front of my face? I can’t get rid of it. How do I find peace if my adversary is right here and my opposition is right here in front of my face, screaming in my face? It’s all I see, it’s all I hear,” Emy said.

However, let us always remember that our thoughts are not according to the will and plans of God all the time. Just because we keep on thinking about it doesn’t mean that it’s the right thing. In fact, that thought might be the reason our peace was robbed from us.

“Just because it’s loud doesn’t mean that it’s right. Because the Bible says that the enemy prowls like a roaring lion but the Lord comes in a gentle whisper. So just because something is screaming and crying right in front of your face, doesn’t mean you should pay any attention to it. Because it might be the one thing that wants to rob you of peace.”
