A Psychologist testified how God beautifully orchestrated an ordained moment that taught him an important lesson.
Ordained Moment
Certified Clinical Psychologist Dr. Adam Dell shared a beautiful story that would deeply encourage those doubting God’s ways. He had a flight towards faith moment that taught him an important lesson. When he was 21-years-old, he prayed a very innocent prayer. He asked God before the freshman arrived for the fall semester if he was supposed to be there, someone should come up to ask him about the gospel without initiating it.
The next day was their welcome weekend, and all the freshmen were descending on the campus. All day long, he was moving kids’ furniture into the dorms, waiting for that moment to happen. He met and interacted with hundreds of people, and no one asked about the gospel.
Singing a Song
Furthermore, when it was already 11:30 in the evening, he felt brokenhearted about his day. He walked around a lake in the middle of the night. And sang a song by Shawn Macdonald called “Have You Ever,” with the following lyrics:
“And I’ve tasted of love so deep.
That it blows your mind.
He’s what you’re looking for.
He’s my sweet, sweet Jesus.”
He was singing that song on a park bench at 11:55 at night. Tears were coming down his eyes because he was so convinced that God had no reason for him to be in that place or that He didn’t hear his prayers. When the song ended, he opened his eyes and saw a man standing close to him with tears flowing through his face.
Sweet Jesus
It was about one minute before midnight. Then, the gentleman looked at him and said, “The love of my life walked out of my life today. And I walked down at the lake thinking there was nothing worth living for. And in the darkness, I heard you singing about a love so high that it would blow my mind. Would you tell me more about it?”
After that, he embraced the man, and they were both weeping. He felt so blessed by what God allowed him to experience. He realized that God answered his prayer at the eleventh hour.
Then, he testified, “There’s a God who’s gone before and with me, every step of the way. Who shows up in these really profound manifest ways sometimes? Who sees us and pursues us. And knows us and even cries out to us in the darkness. And the darkness does not overcome it. He’s my sweet, sweet Jesus.”
