Evangelist and bestselling author David Diga Hernandez shared three destructive habits that weaken someone’s prayers. These nuggets of wisdom might be helpful for believers seeking breakthroughs in their relationship with God.
Prayer
A famous quote once said, “A prayerful Christian is a powerful Christian.” Indeed, this is true, as Jesus demonstrated such zeal for prayer during his ministry on earth. The Gospel books describe how He communed with the Father each time before He went out to do the Father’s will. Jesus showed the difference prayer could make in someone’s faith in God.

Destructive Habits that Would Weaken One’s Prayers
In a video shared by evangelist David Diga Hernandez, he pointed out the hindrances of a Christian’s prayer life.
One of the hindrances he shared was “unconfessed sin.” He stressed that such unrepented sin could hinder someone’s prayer life. Then David quoted Psalm 66, wherein verses 17-18 say, “I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened..”

“There is still disruption in our prayer lives when we walk in disobedience because we lack faith,” he explained.
Then, another hindrance that David shared was “unforgiveness.” He pointed out how unforgiveness could lead to bitterness, eventually making it hard for a person to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Following these two, the evangelist added three destructive habits that could weaken a believer’s prayer life. First, he said, was “impure motives.” Second, he stressed that when one approaches God in prayer, they should have the mindset that “God sees you.” And finally, he said, when one prays, “don’t tell God what He can’t do. Don’t tell God what He’s not able to accomplish. Don’t talk to God like He’s working on your timeline.”
