Breaking The Cycle of Fear: Fear Will Sabotage Your Destiny

1. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:7‬

If you allow fear to remain active in your life, it will take hold of your thoughts, paralyze your forward momentum and suffocate your God-Given Destiny. Through Christ, God has given us Power to overcome every obstacle the enemy attempts to set in our way. No matter the circumstance, God has given us Power to break the spirit of fear from off of our lives and the Strength to fight against and be victorious over the tactics of the enemy in every area of our lives. God has given you Power. Face and conquer fear with God’s Word.

2. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians‬ ‭5:1‬

When you are in Christ, it is your choice to surrender to the bondage and stronghold of fear. When you are in Christ, you are given the Keys and Authority to overcome the enemy in every area of your life. When you are in Christ, He has set you free. The key is if you are in Christ. It’s your choice to walk in the freedom of Christ or live in the bondage and entanglement of the past. Be released from the yoke of bondage and be free in Christ completely. Remember not the former things push and press toward the things that God has in store for you. You have a great Destiny in store for you. Don’t allow fear to sabotage and steal your Destiny.

3. “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” ‭Isaiah‬ ‭10:27‬

Fear will wrap itself around your Destiny, choking the very life out of your dreams and your plans for the future. But those who are in Christ, have Full Access to Christ [The Anointed One]. Christ, The Anointing will break you free from under the weight and bondage of the past. If you trust God, He will keep you protected under His Covering as you surrender to Him. The Anointing of Christ will destroy every yoke and burden that’s weighing you down. Step forward in faith, trusting and knowing that God will cover and heal you, destroying the pain of the past.

4. “And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭2:22‬ ‭

Fear will cause you to implement new ideas in an old way. God wants you to implement, the new ideas that He has given you, His Way. You cannot put new wine, (new ideas, new businesses, new revelation) into old bottles – an old framework. Allow God to reshape your mind and renew your vessel to execute His Ideas, His Way.

Sometimes fear can cause us to be complacent, in fear of not excelling or thriving. Fear will plateau your potential. Pray and sit before God so that He can give you a new perspective on what to execute His Way.

5. “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:24‬

You cannot serve two masters. In this text, Jesus teaches on serving God or idolizing money (mammon – the exaltation of riches to a God-like status). There is nothing wrong with money. Money is a tool – it is not God. But when you choose to idolize money and exalt it in your heart to a “god-like” status then you’re choosing to worship money over surrendering to The True and Living God.

An overwhelming fear of lack or the fear of being in poverty will torment you, if you allow these thoughts to rule over your “thought life”. When fear rules your thought life, your actions begin to follow after your fears. Your fears begin to shape your actions and you begin to solely trust in your own “power and ability”, to obtain wealth, rather than trusting in God. When you solely trust in your ability to produce rather than believing what God said He’ll provide your fear begins to deceive you and causes you to become self reliant on your power rather than trusting God’s Hand to flow through you. We are to be diligent and good stewards over the supply that God gives us. We are to work as unto the Lord, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:23‬ . We are to submit to The One who Supplies all your need and not serve fear as master of our hearts. Trust God and know that He’ll take care of you. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians‬ ‭4:19‬

6. “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James‬ ‭1:8‬

Fear will threaten your stability. When faith and fear are at war, fear competes for a space that only God can fill. When you choose to allow fear to occupy in a dry and void place (a place that’s not flourishing and fed by God’s Word), fear becomes your god and drowns out every other voice… even God’s. Fear will speak louder than The Word of God, if you allow it to rule and have dominion in your heart. When you fill your void places with God’s Word, He will saturate your heart with His Peace and give you Power to replenish your faith tank again.

A double minded man is one who clings to two opinions – faith and fear and will be unstable in every path that he chooses. You cannot walk in faith while clinging to fear. Trust God and give Him your all.

7. “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:7‬

Fear is carnal. Your flesh wants to fight God while your spirit wants to surrender and worship Him. It’s up to you to put your flesh under subjection and align it with the Word of God. When you trust God and Command fear to leave, you’re declaring that God has dominion over you and fear has to subject itself to Christ. It is your choice, with the help of God, to fight fear with His Word or to be subdued by its grip.

8. In Luke‬ ‭10:19‬, Christ declared “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

When you are in Christ, every trick and trap that the enemy has set up for your defeat – Christ has given you power to conquer the enemy’s devices and his plan. In Christ, you are not defeated. Christ knows your starting point and He knows where you’ll finish. He’s crafted you to prosper. He uniquely created you to win. You have the Authority to Command fear to leave and to triumph over its head. “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” ‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬ God wants to give you good success and He expects you to prosper. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬ Focus and meditate upon Christ over fear.

9. “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:4‬

Fear will disarm your war chest. Your war chest is God’s Word. His Word is Power and releases you from generational strongholds and the soul ties of fear. Fear will entangled your soul into speaking its language. Speak God’s Word and cancel out the voice of the enemy. When you release God’s Word in your home, you’re inviting God to dwell and to fully activate the gifts, talents and abilities within your family. Whether you’re a family of 1 or of many, God’s Word will produce results, if you allow Him to have dominion in your heart. Fear can speak death or stagnate your Destiny or faith can dominate and rule within your heart causing you to excel in everything that you say and do. Releasing fear and functioning in fear will both stifle and stagnate your Destiny, paralyzing you from trying new things and even obeying the voice of God. Shed fear and Engage God.

10. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬

Fear inhibits your ability to Trust God. When your fears triumph over your ability to trust and lean upon God you begin to set yourself up for failure, no matter the area. To trust in God, completely, requires a selfless obedience. If you’re willing to give your whole heart to Him, in every area, He’ll direct your footsteps. When fear rules your thought life it will impact your faith life causing it to wither. Being entangled by fear will limit you. Fear will magnify your inabilities, weaknesses and shortcomings, stunting your growth, Destiny and development. While faith allows you grow by acknowledging, surrendering and addressing your shortcomings to God. When you walk by faith and trust God with every aspect of your life, you begin to declare, with your actions, that God is Lord over your life and fear has no residence in your heart. Trusting God requires your participation. If you hold on to the weight and condemnation of the past, it will crush you. Condemnation is magnifying the past sin, transgression, mistake or misstep over God’s loving Grace to forgive you of all of your sin. God is greater than your mistake. Release it and trust God.

11. “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭54:17‬

Fear will cause you to magnify the enemy’s weapon. God is greater than any weapon that the enemy can form. God created you to prosper and He has given you dominion over any and every weapon that’s formed – even financial. Every financial weapon and catastrophe has no dominion over your house. According to Malachi 3:11, God will rebuke the devourer. Financial devourer, strongholds and derailments do not have authority to operate in the life of a Christian. Although, financial mistakes and missteps happen, God has given you His Authority, Grace and Favor to steward and govern your finances well and with integrity. “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭8:18‬. Although the weapon is formed, it does not have to impact your house. Financial setbacks and missteps are not permanent pits. God has given you the power, authority and insight to conquer and overcome fear in every area, even in your finances.

12. “So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” ‭Isaiah‬ ‭59:19‬

When the enemy comes in like a flood God will raise up a standard. No matter the area where fear attempts to manifest itself, God’s Word will overcome it. With Christ, you have the Authority to defeat fear whenever it raises its head. Even if fear tries to come in like a tidal wave, God can calm the storm. Fear does not have to rule you, dominate or torment you, God has given you authority, through the Blood of Christ to rule, dominate and tread on fear’s head.

Fear can attract defeat. The threat of fear and it’s taunting impact can magnify itself above your situation. Fear looms. It attempts to boast itself over your head like a tidal wave – waiting to crash and crush you by its weight and destructive force. It’s up to you to embrace God’s Peace or accept defeat – choose the former. God can cause the storm to cease. He can cause the waves to be at peace. When fear rises, read and apply God’s Word Daily and He will give you peace beyond understanding. He is Peace. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:7. Amen.

Christine Caine Reminds Those Who Feel Stuck In Life: ‘Your History Does Not Define Your Destiny’

Christine Caine gave a powerful reminder for those who feel stuck in life. She emphasized that their history does not define their destiny.

Christian evangelist and author, Christine Caine, boldly testified about the power of Jesus’ blood in her life. She posted an inspiring video on her Instagram account that greatly impacted those who were stuck in their shame and past. She talked about the painful experiences she had growing up. Sadly, she was one of those girls who was left in the hospital unnamed and unwanted. Her birth certificate does not have a name on it.

Meanwhile, she also mentioned that she was one of those kids who was sexually abused. Not only that, she was also a daughter of immigrants. Because of her ethnicity and gender, she felt marginalized. The negative experiences she went through could have given her reasons to be stuck in shame, unforgiveness, bitterness, and disappointment.

Destiny

Furthermore, she highlighted, “If I go with today’s narrative, I could say, ‘Well, that has defined me. And that’s why I’m stuck.’” But there came a time when she realized that what Jesus did for her was bigger than her painful past. She emphasized, “You’ve got to make what Jesus did for you bigger than what they did to you. You’ve got to make what Jesus did for you bigger than what they said about you.”

Moreover, she explained that when Jesus shed His blood at Calvary, that blood still sets people free. She believed that the negative past didn’t define her. Instead, what Jesus did for her is what defines her. She knew that the blood of Jesus set her free.

Lastly, she included in the caption of her Instagram post, “Your history does not define your destiny. No matter your past, there comes a time when you’ve got to make what Jesus did for you bigger than what they’ve done to you. He died so that we can be FREE, not stuck!”

What does managing money have to do with your destiny? God wants our hearts to be pure, and when it comes to money, He wants us to trust Him. You dream and imagine what your future will be like, and it doesn’t usually happen without money being in the equation.

Pastor Robert Morris Teaches About Being Wise With Money

Robert Morris is the senior pastor of Gateway Church, a multicampus church based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Pastor Robert Morris Ministries shares God’s Word throughout the world, helping people to become followers of Jesus.

In a message called “Passing The Prosperity Test,” Robert Morris taught about how managing money correlates to fulfilling your destiny. In talking about money, he said that riches “promise you happiness, but Jesus is the only One who can give you joy.” Riches “promise security, identity, popularity…and God is the only one who can give it to you.”

He conveyed the love and concern of the Father, who wants His children to have pure hearts when it comes to money. God wants you to fulfill your destiny! He has a good plan and a purpose for you life. Put God first by giving Him your firstfruits, and keeping a budget. If that sounds daunting, you will be encouraged by listening to his message.

Seek First The Kingdom Of God

Life costs money; it’s just the way it works here on the earth. There’s not much that we can do without money. We need to buy food, shelter, clothing, etc. This is why Jesus said to seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness. He knew we’d worry about all of these things, so He said that all of “these things” will be added to us if we seek Him first.

^“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).

Is Tithing Biblical?

Tithing is a biblical principle, and found all over the Bible. Giving God our firstfruits shows that money doesn’t have control of our hearts. Giving back to God what already belongs to Him makes us free from being slaves to money. Pastor Robert Morris explained how when we put money first, it chokes the word that would otherwise give us life and peace.

“But the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful” (Mark 4:19).

When the Israelites went into the Promised Land, God told them to give Him all the silver and gold from Jericho. Now this wasn’t ten percent, but it’s the principle that matters here. The gold and silver were valuable. Robert Morris reminds us that it was because Jericho was the first city. They were finally stepping into their promise, but God wanted their hearts.

” But all silver and gold, and every vessel of bronze and iron, are holy to the Lord; they shall go into the treasury of the Lord” (Joshua 6:19).

Does Having A Budget Matter?

Having a budget is also a biblical principle. In Luke, Jesus talked about counting the cost to build a tower:

^“For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’” (Luke 14:28-30).

Money is one of those uncomfortable subjects to talk about at church, but God has called us to be wise, and since we need money to live, it would only make sense that we should manage it well. It makes sense that God would want us to be wise with our money, because it was He who blessed us in the first place.

Fulfilling your destiny comes with a cost. Put God first, seek His kingdom and His righteousness, and keep your heart pure. He is a good Father and He deserves all of the honor, glory, and praise.

Receive This Prayer

Father, thank you for giving us all that we need. We ask for wisdom in handling the money that you’ve given us. Where there is any pain in our hearts when it comes to money, we ask that Holy Spirit would minister to our hearts, and give us the courage to begin afresh by giving you the firstfruits of our finances. We ask for provision for those who are in need today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God’s Word For Today: Born For Such a Time

In the tapestry of human history, there are moments when individuals rise to the forefront, destined to play a crucial role in shaping the course of events. The story of Esther, a young Jewish woman thrust into a position of influence and responsibility, teaches a profound truth: you were born for such a time as this.

What Does the Bible Say?

In Esther 4:14, Mordecai challenges Esther with these powerful words: “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Esther’s story serves as a powerful reminder that God’s divine hand orchestrates your life and places you in specific circumstances, equipped and empowered to fulfill your purpose.

Esther’s journey was not accidental; it was divinely orchestrated. Likewise, you were intricately woven into God’s plan. In Psalm 139:16, the psalmist declares, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

Esther’s initial response to Mordecai’s call was fear and hesitation. But through prayer, fasting, and the support of her community, she found the courage to embrace her destiny. Joshua 1:9 encourages us, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” When you surrender your fears to God and trust in His guidance, you can step into the fullness of your calling.

Throughout Esther’s story, we witness the unseen hand of God orchestrating events and bringing deliverance to His people. Even in times of uncertainty, you can trust that God’s sovereign plan is at work, and He will guide you on the path of purpose.

Friend, as you contemplate your unique journey, remember that you were born for such a time as this. Embrace the Esther perspective and allow God to unveil the purpose He has designed specifically for you. Be courageous, trust in His timing, and impact the world around you. You are here, at this moment, for a divine purpose.

Having A Clear Vision With God Will Fill Your Life With Peace

Who have you been called to be?

I still remember the first time a wise mother figure in my life asked me this. At the time, I was struggling with fear. The fear of letting people I loved down, managing other’s expectations of me, and the fear of man’s opinion of me.

With a gentle voice, she simply asked me: “Lauren, who has Father called you to be?” This question set my mind at ease and helped me determine a clear vision with God. One that wasn’t based on other people but only His word and my confidence in trusting Him. When we know who God calls us to be, we understand what we are responsible for. That responsibility grounds us.

As Jesus tells us in Matthew: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:30

A clear vision with God leads us to peace

Life with Jesus is light. The heaviness of the world isn’t the burden you were created to carry. We all come into contact with fear and confusion. When we remain in the vision God provides, we stay in alignment with His peace. Having a clear vision with God provides lasting confidence in the unseen. From this place, we no longer need to worry about what other’s might think. Because we possess the confidence of who God has called us to be, we have clarity and peace.

A prayer for you: Holy Spirit, would you remind this daughter or son of their heavenly identity and destiny? I pray that their spirit comes alive in your reality and future for them. Let them lead those around them in freedom!

Focused on Your Future

Have you felt distracted recently, unsure of where God wants you at this time? I want to encourage you to stay focused on your future ahead.

The enemy loves to deceive us, but if he is unable to, his next best tactic is to distract us. Where are the areas in your life where He might be doing this? Where your purpose and future are! This is why we so often can feel discouraged in the very place we are meant to prosper in. No one is able to do everything at once, making it so important to know what few things are a priority for you in your current season. As you make these clear to yourself, you will be able to share your priorities with those around you.

Being Focused on Your Future Requires Discipline

Not looking to the right or to the left, but on the path ahead requires undivided attention. What has God called you to prioritize in this season? If it’s your family, give them your best. If it’s your marriage, put it above other obligations. Maybe it’s a season of deep inner healing; devote time and attention to stewarding the breakthrough God is releasing over you.

Make Your Yes and No Very Clear

Here are some practical questions to ask yourself as you commit to plans and make decisions:

-Does attending this event prevent me from completing any tasks or requirements to hit my weekly goals?

-How will saying “yes” or “no” to this person or thing hinder or support what I’ve chosen to focus on in this season?

As you learn to focus on where God has you, you might find yourself saying “no” more often. Don’t believe the lie this is a problem! Walking out your destiny with God should challenge you. You are doing better than you think! Staying the course with God will always be better than veering into distraction.

The Purpose of Your Story

The purpose of your story is to walk in alignment with God as a testimony for others, no matter what you have come out of.

Have you been moving through your life thinking the circumstances of your upbringing and the place you are at now are coincidental? Maybe you believe that all the random elements of your life are not connected; they are just your life and the cards that you have been given.

Here is the truth for you today:

You purpose started with God

You carry a unique history, a story that began before you or anyone in your family ever arrived on earth. It started with your parents, sure, but even before that, you started with God.

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5)

In the midst of the trauma, shame, and ugly parts of your story that you’d prefer to hide, God has been carving out your life’s purpose. Some of the very things you feel helpless in God has a plan to heal you from, teaching you how to lead others into their healing. Your purpose is not confined to the bubble of life that we so easily believe we exist in.

The purpose of your story stretches beyond you. And better yet, there is nothing that you have to make happen. God is the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12).

God takes the broken pieces of our stories and shapes them into our destiny

Consider Joseph: abused and sold into slavery by his brothers, he was still positioned for his purpose many years later. He could have let the shame of abandonment from his family prevent him from walking with God. Likewise, we too have a choice. Let God lead your healing, showing you all the parts of your story that He intends to flourish; so that you will look back in awe at His goodness and grace over your life.

Trust God

I went to encourage you with my testimony. So, I am free and I’m full of life and joy and all of these things, these amazing things God has given me right now, but that is not where I came from. I came from a very hard and scary past, abusive family, abusive, even religiously. My dad was a pastor and he really used the Word of God and a lot of other things to hurt me. And, my mom was mentally ill because of that. And then they divorced, there was drug addiction in my family. I came and saw all of that, which then led to me at teenage years, being suicidal and I attempted it many times. I was like that all the way up to just recently, a couple years ago, even, I still was struggling.

It wasn’t until I finally knew who my King Jesus really was. It was not so much just knowing about Him. He invited me into His chambers. He literally said that I could sit next to Him, and He spoke for Himself. Because, since I grew up in religion, but it was a lot of abusive things; it wasn’t really God. So, for me to sit in the chambers and Him say, “This is me and I have healing for you, I have life for you, I have joy, and peace,” was amazing!

So now you see me, I do want to live. I have a daughter, that’s three. I’m going to be married 10 years. And I am just fiercely, and courageously, and bravely just seeking out God and my purpose and destiny. And I know that there’s a reason that I’m here. From being suicidal to that; that is just the testimony of my life.

I hope that encourages you if you’re in that place, or if you’re coming out of that place. There is hope. Be patient in your healing. There is that healing time. So be patient in the healing; He has so much for you. He has so much in store for you. He has beautiful, beautiful visions, bigger than yours. So just trust Him with your life. He can turn it around fast, just like He did with me.

How Art Can Help You Discover Your Purpose And Destiny

Are you in the middle of a self discovery journey? Would you like to begin to know more about your destiny in your life and in God’s Kingdom?

Do you know that art can not only help you find yourself, but show you what you most love and desire. It can also show you where to begin to birthing your destiny.

I remember asking God one day to please help me be able to finally walk into my calling. I did not get the answer I expected…or honestly even wanted.

He told me to start painting.

Takings Risks

You must know that before this point, I had only painted once in my life. I was so embarrassed at the outcome that I never painted ever again. So, when I say I was not excited about doing this it’s an understatement.

I did not consider myself a artist but I decided to be brave and try. I figured that there was a reason art class was part of the school curriculum and why it’s considered to be so important in our development years. I figured it was probably because there is no better way to teach a student to be all they can be and discover their purpose.

What Does Painting Have To Do With Your Destiny?

Art is something that can be both inviting and intimidating. Very much like risks and adventures. On one hand, the word risk is intimidating and on the other, adventure is inviting and exciting. However, they are both the same thing, just with a different approach. What differentiates the experience you have with art is your faith. Let’s define faith as “your approach”.

Yes, faith is part of this equation. If you have faith and believe in anything in your life, then you carry the potential to create inside you. That means your approach (faith) is a part of what you CAN do. Fear can also be an approach in which you create the situations that say confirm CANNOT do something.

Faith is what “creates” confidence in what you’re doing or thinking. So if you feel you’re having a hard time with your purpose you can quicken the process by taking risks, like painting or any kind of artistic expression, that both invites you and challenges you. For example, the artistic expressions of dancing, drawing and even fixing things. The point is to do something that you have only imagined but never really tried. Taking that step will quickly grow confidence in yourself.

In summary, risk taking and faith birth creativity, which then leads to confidence, which then brings forth your purpose.
Your purpose will inspire others around you which will result in stepping into your destiny. That easy!

Where Your Destiny Unfolds

When we are discovering ourselves the first step is to heal from what is holding us back. It can be our past, trauma, or wounds. Then, when you start feeling more whole you are strong enough to play in your new found freedom. Some of us, have to learn to play again because the blank canvas of our new freedom can make us cringe in fear of doing something they’ve never done. Thoughts like; “What if I don’t do it right?, “This may be my only chance”, or “Maybe I’m no good all together?”

Maybe some of the previous thought examples resonated with you. Maybe it’s time to grab that brush in your life and dip your brush in knowing that the ‘Master of Art’ is telling you that you CAN do it. You don’t have to even want to. Faith can be as small as “Ok, Teacher if you think so, I’ll try.” Trust is letting go of it all and giving up control – even letting go of insecurities. Once you put that paint brush to the canvas you can make the mess you were so afraid of making. It might even be fun! Just like when you were a child, scrapping your elbows and knees meant you played NOT that you failed.

The Child In You Knows The Way

Move. Paint. Jump. Dance. The Teacher of teachers is there to guide and protect you. You can just be a child and focus on learning more about yourself. Worry and doubt steal so much time and energy, but being childlike is not having a care in the world in the world. Now go, whatever that may mean for you, and start playing and leave the outcome to Him. This is how you will accelerate your destiny.

Dear Allergy Sufferer: God Will Give You an Answer of Peace

I could feel the closing of my nostrils as my chest tightened. A wave of anxiety hit me because I knew the world would close in on me again. No air. No peace. I run to get the nasal spray and circumvent hours of feeling restless and without hope. The allergy sufferer, is this really my identity?

When will it end?

Is it even worth it to complain?

I listen as another plethora of steps on how to help manage the symptoms pours in. I get annoyed and hang the phone up. “I love you, but I don’t like what you’re saying. You don’t understand the extent of my exhaustion.”

The silence in the room reminds me that I still have a life, others who depend on me “pulling my weight.”

Searching for answers

I begin the search for natural remedies to cure allergic rhinitis. Suddenly, the amount of money I’ve spent flashes across my eyes. I look up to the ceiling. God, is there any way you can open a door for me to find the correct medicine? Something to once and for all put an end to this?

This time, I don’t search for a man-made solution. I decided to investigate whether another person has been healed of their allergies.

Right then and there, the testimony reminds me that the battle is spiritual. It isn’t about suffering from an allergy. This is my Goliath, and victory depends on how I respond.

Fear, delay, and apathy? Or righteous indignation, holy courage, and boldness?

The Allergy in The Time of Transition

David, God’s shepherd boy, heads out to carry lunch to his brothers. What was supposed to be a food delivery turned into a Kairos moment of divine destiny.

Rugged and good-looking, David stood out for the youth that he was among the best of Saul’s armies. Mighty men of war who would one day chase him like prey.

Perhaps he still smelled like sheep, but that didn’t deter the righteous anger fueling his curiosity to discover why Goliath had the Lord’s army in disarray. Who was this uncircumcised Philistine to determine the destiny of the people of the Head of the universe?

His eyes squinted as he got a good look at the enemies’ army. They had no protection from the light of Yahweh. No covenant that ensured He’d defend them in the day of battle and strengthen their hands to war.

That was the key.

Allergy Sufferer or Slayer of Goliath?

David’s God was Baal Perazim, the One who beat his enemies as small as the dust. Before his eyes, he saw the lion and the bear lifeless.

He took a deep breath as the stillness of the small brook nearby reminded him of the times he drank of God’s presence while leading the sheep.

“If none go with me, still I will follow.”

Goliath was the enemy sent to bring Israel into captivity and slavery (1 Samuel 17:8-11) before David could become king. What was supposed to destroy David’s chances of being a light in Israel (2 Samuel 21:17) opened the door for his destiny and glorified God.

What now? What of My Allergies?

Just as Goliath is no more, so are the allergies. The once and for all solution is already in existence.

Jesus bore my sickness in His body before it ever existed in mine (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24) so that I could be free. I do not bow to the fear of Goliath and subject my destiny to the uncircumcised philistine shouting that lies in my ears.

Instead, I look up to the heavens and smile.

Jesus has already spoken the answer. It is one of peace.
