Sam Smith’s satanic Grammys performance during the 65th awards ceremony Sunday has caused quite a stir.
Clad in crimson red leather pants, devil horns, and dancing around in a seance-like manor, Smith and Kim Petras performed their hit song ‘Unholy’.
Accompanied with backup dancers clapping whips, Petras danced in a cage as fire lite up the stage. Meanwhile, Smith pranced around with a cane and assemble of dancers circling him. The dark and disturbing production reenacted a satanic sex-ritual.
Following the performance, host Trevor Noah faked a phone call with his mom.
“No, mom, it wasn’t the actual devil. … Yeah, you did warn me about Hollywood.” He added, “She says she will be praying for all of us.”
Satanic Grammys Performance
From conservative politicians, to fierce proponents of the LGBTQ community, the performance has been criticized and praised.
Petras and Smith won the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the song. “I’m the first transgender woman to win this award,” said Petras. “I want to thank all the incredible transgender legends before me who kicked these doors open.”
Senator Ted Cruz tweeted a video clip of the performance stating “This…is…evil.”
In a TikTok shared on his Instagram page, Shawn Bolz commented: “Sam Smith did the most demonic, demonic performance.”
Solomon Buchi tweeted “Sam Smith’s performance at the Grammy’s last night was satanic, gory. No, it’s not art; it’s symbolic of who they serve.”
The throne of God is forever
While reading and watching these grotesque depictions may be disturbing, don’t let your hearts grow troubled. God is seated on the throne! He is Holy.
“God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.” (Psalm 47:8)
