Words have power. “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21)
Words Have Power
God’s word emphasizes the power in words. Proverbs 18:21 speaks of this truth. “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” The weight of this scripture is not one we can carry without God and relationship with Him.
Life And Death
There was a time in my life where this truth became very real for me. Comparing myself to the world’s standards and conforming just to fit in and find acceptance, I was constantly partnering with lies about myself. I partnered with shame and performance. Instead of Love and Faith. I would partner with these things and speak them over my life. I had no idea the toll it was taking on my life and how I walked day-to-day. It completely affected the way I saw myself.
Words Carry Weight
Realizing this truth was difficult, to say the least. It made me realize that healing needed to take place in certain areas of my life with certain experiences I had. Words have power. The tongue has the power of life and death. When you affirm yourself in alignment with God’s word and what He says about you, life comes. When you speak things against yourself that God doesn’t identify with you, it kills. It kills your identity, it kills your dreams, and makes you feel like you don’t measure up. It kills your self-esteem.
Speak Life
When you speak things over yourself and affirm The Holy Spirit within you, it brings life. Identity and God’s Love are what defines you. His presence shapes you into who you truly are. When you come into agreement with these truths, your life shifts and you’ll feel more alive. God’s word does not lie! When you speak life, life comes. Speak life today and ask The Holy Spirit what He thinks about you. I promise it’ll make you feel more alive.
