Danny Silk, the founder of Loving on Purpose Ministry, shared several practical ways to successfully confront in love.
Confront in Love
“Communicating in conflict is one of the challenging things that we do as humans. It’s so filled with anxiety even before it starts,” Danny highlighted. People who are in conflict feel disconnected, and it creates fear. That’s why having the right goal is the priority. Connection must be the end in mind of every confrontation. “Prioritize restoration of the connection before you try to resolve the issue,” Danny added.
Danny also said to pay attention to your style while communicating. If the person is aggressive, anxiety can grow. On the other hand, passivity can also increases anxiety.
“Remember to stay assertive. Two powerful people working together to meet the needs of each other and the needs of the situation,” he said. Having a high commitment to respect one another is a major key in healthy conflict. It’s also how a broken connection can be restored.

Keep a Servants’ Heart
He encourages listeners to go through conflict with a heart of a servant. Decide to serve the other person.
Philippians 2: 3-4 reminds us to put others first: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” In communication, humility and putting the other person first means genuinely listening to their concerns with your heart. Meeting the other person’s needs is the way to loving them well.
In conclusion, confrontation is not always bad. In fact, it is actually healthy. It can strengthen your relationships.
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.” Matthew 18:15, NIV
