Christian evangelist Colby F. Maeir shared a powerful insight with believers on “how to win the battle of the mind.”
The Battle of the Mind
In his insightful message, Colby Maier shed light on a powerful concept that might help those seeking to win the battle of the mind. He explained that the Bible’s wisdom encourages people to actively engage their thoughts in a way that aligns with the Word of God.
In 2 Corinthians 10:5, Paul wrote the church of Corinth: “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”“The Bible tells us to take every thought captive and make it subject to Christ,” he explained. “Notice it doesn’t say ignore the thoughts you don’t like. It didn’t simply neglect the negative thoughts. It says to take every thought captive and make it submit to the Word of God.”
Spiritual Warfare
With that, Colby advised facing head-on those thoughts that are not from God. And not to forget that it is a spiritual battle.
“See, Paul’s using language of warfare here,” he said. “You have an enemy. Thoughts that set themselves up in opposition to God. And so you take it prisoner, you question it, you interrogate it. You ask it, ‘where did you come from? Who sent you? What root door of insecurity did you walk through? What lie did you believe to get here?’”
Furthermore, the evangelist emphasized the importance of acknowledging these ungodly thoughts. It is only by acknowledging them that one can begin to dismantle their influence over their lives and replace them with God’s truth. In this way, a believer would have to learn to overcome destructive narratives and receive God’s peace that surpasses all understanding.
“And then after you collect enough data to help you the next time they come around, you subject that thought to the truth of God’s Word,” he remarked. “And that’s how you win the battle of the mind.”
