Former NFL player Benjamin Watson shared the Gospel on CNN by reminding us that everyone will eventually face death, but there’s a solution through Jesus Christ.

Benjamin Watson played as a tight end in the NFL for 15 seasons and previously won a Super Bowl. On Wednesday, he made a powerful statement on CNN with Anderson Cooper. As they were discussing Damar Hamlin’s medical emergency, he reminded everyone that we will eventually face death, but we have a solution “through His Son Jesus Christ.”
“To me,” Anderson said, “it’s such a reminder, not only of the violence of … the game of football, but it’s the frailty of human life, that somebody in their prime, an incredible athlete at the top of their game, life can change in the blink of an eye, and you know, and it can for all of us.”

The Christian author then agreed with Anderson’s statement and talked about everyone’s mortality and the value of one’s life. He then ended his statement by saying that he believes that something good can come out of a tragedy. The former Super Bowl winner is extending his prayers not just for Damar, but also for everyone on the field that day.
“Part of my prayers right now, Anderson, is for the players in both of those locker rooms, for the chaplains who I know very well who are right now, counseling and comforting players who saw a brother in a near-death experience and who was still fighting for his life,” he said. “Because the questions about what happens after this life – where will you spend eternity? – as you mentioned, Anderson, are coming up for all of us, not just for the football players. But thank God that He provides an answer through His Son Jesus Christ.”
