A 9-year-old student tried to save her classmates before she lost her life in the Nashville shooting.
9-Year-Old Hero Amid Nashville Shooting
On Monday, news about the mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville broke out. The incident broke the hearts of many, especially the families of those who lost their loved ones. Although the attacker lost her life in a chase with police, three children and three teachers lost their lives.
One of the heartbreaking stories shared on the internet following the shooting was about the 9-year-old victim, Evelyn Dieckhaus. Apparently, she was a hero for trying to save her friends.
In a Twitter post by Collin Rugg, he revealed the heroic moment of the little girl before she lost her life. He posted a photo of Evelyn and wrote, “This little girl tried saving her friends by pulling a fire alarm when she heard the Nashville shooter coming.”
In Memory Of Evelyn
Then during a vigil, her Sunday school teacher in the church, Sarah Drury, shared memories about the sweet 9-year-old.
“She was adorable,” she described. “I taught her equally angelic big sister in Sunday Sunday school. Her mom Katy volunteered in our children’s ministry—such a sweet Christian family. We had a prayer vigil tonight at our church. We are, the whole city, saturated in grief. Now it’s time to marry prayer and grief with action.”
Furthermore, Evelyn’s big sister expressed her grief during the vigil and said, “I don’t want to be an only child.”
Also, in a Facebook post by Lauren Ivy, she revealed that Evelyn was her daughter’s “first friend at High Hopes Development Center.” She is encouraging the people to pray for the family of the 9-year-old.
Then she added, “No one should have to explain to their 9 year old that their friend is gone due to such a senseless act of gun violence.”
Let’s continue praying for every family affected by the horrific mass shooting at The Covenant School.
