The late Cindy Williams was best known for her role in the popular sitcom during the ’70s to ’80s, “Laverne and Shirley.” But last January 25, Cindy passed away at the age of 75. Today, Cindy’s faith in God has resurfaced and is now talked about as fans and friends commemorate her life.
Cindy Williams
“Laverne and Shirley” was a hit sitcom. It ran through eight seasons, proving its dominance in primetime television. Cindy played Shirley Feeney, while the late Penny Marshall played Laverne.
During her last interview with QRO magazine in 2021, Cindy revealed her passion for God. When asked if she prayed, the late TV star replied, “Is there anything or anyone to pray to other than God?”
She claims that she abides in God all day. “I’m with God all day. I remember one time this joke didn’t work. And I tried and tried, and I turned to Penny and said, ‘Maybe Jesus can make this joke work.'”Cindy continued, “I’m constantly in that frame of mind, even when I’m throwing hissy fits. I’m in the presence of God, and God is in my presence. Otherwise, I wouldn’t make it through if not to believe that everything is well and good and that this universe is built on love.”
Moreover, Cindy believes that her humor, which has helped her in the show’s success, comes from the love of God. “People who are afraid of God or Christ, I think they are fearful because they see God as the great punisher,” she said.
“God is unconditional love, and with that comes great humor. When you take humor out of a society, you take a lot of love out of that society. ”
People who have known Cindy also described her as a “person with an unshakeable faith in God.”
And today, with Cindy gone, she will be known as the sweet and feisty Shirley and the woman who loves God.
