During the recent Thanksgiving Season, a group of men at Sandy Valley Baptist Church in Georgia, USA decided to give away money to share God’s blessing on their lives with their wider community. According to CJ Holmes, who led the project, this unusual activity came to be called “Project Multiply.”
CJ and his team independently gathered $12,000 for the project and divided it amongst church members by putting amounts of between $100 and $1,000 in unmarked envelopes. These were then given to some 80-90 families in their church.
“We told them to go out and find someone who would be blessed by the money,” CJ told reporters.
After the families distributed the cash, Project Multiply received many testimonies of hope and love. One family bought blankets, and fast food gift cards to give to the homeless, while another surprised a waitress with a more than generous tip.
The13WMAZ news team invited the families to go on camera to share some of their stories, but they said they weren’t in it for the recognition, they just wanted to give back during Thanksgiving.
Through “Project Multiply” these church members learnt to share their God-given blessings. For them this was a huge opportunity to be a blessing to other people.
This story serves as a compelling reminder for us as Christians to remember to share the blessings God gives. And as a church we must also teach the people around us to how to give. If this world was full of people willing to offer what they have to the needy, everyone would live in a life full of peace and joy. Watch and be inspired!
