A Christian psychologist encourages parents to read the Bible to their kids. She went on to share the biblical reasons why.
Christian Psychologist
Dr. Courtney Miller has been reading the Bible to her toddler. She believes mothers have “the incredible opportunity to shape the children’s hearts and minds with God’s Truth and Wisdom.” It will guide them throughout their lifetime.
As Proverbs 22:6 says, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.”
So, Courtney is training her child to know the Word of God. From a psychologist’s perspective, she listed down her reasons why this is important:
- To nurture their spirit
Courtney explained that even though parents may not understand what their babies are saying, she believes God’s Word is alive and active, bringing life to their spirits.
- To root their identity and moral foundation in who God says that He is
The Christian psychologist knew that the world offers differing principles and cultural opinions. That’s why reading the Bible to children as early as two years old can help them build their moral foundation in God.
- To learn to recognize the voice of God for themselves
Courtney said, “We can teach our children to recognize God’s voice by reading His word and learning to quiet our hearts to listen to the Holy Spirit’s voice.”

Moreover, it helps them discern the lies of the enemy as they grow up.
Christian Parents
Raising children isn’t easy for Christian parents today.
Jesus warned ahead, “If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first. If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. (John 15:18-19)
Now is the time for Christian parents to stand firm!
