Recently, Lisa Bevere discussed how to prepare to be a godly wife and shared what she had learned from her marriage.
How To Prepare Yourself To Be A Godly Wife
When someone asked Lisa Bevere, “How did you prepare yourself to be a godly wife?” she answered, “I would have wished I’d known this but I didn’t.”
Lisa admitted that she believed the lie that once you get married everything would be fine and they’d live happily ever after.
The first thing that Lisa wished she had done was to seek counsel from people older than her, who had more experience with what a healthy marriage looked like.
“I wish I would have had somebody that I would have been brave enough to say, ‘I like the marriage and the life that you’re building. What are some of the things that you would tell me to do?’” Lisa said.
How To Prepare Yourself To Be A Godly Wife: Adding Value
Another point she discussed was adding value to the relationship and the person.
“What can you bring to the table?”
“I think a lot of times we think just being cute is enough. Just looking good in Instagram is enough. Is that how we build a healthy marriage? Let’s talk about an honest assessment of what we’re bringing to the table,” she said.

Lisa admitted that she had a wake-up call. She began assessing her strengths, having an honest opinion of her weaknesses, and then focusing on developing those characteristics.
“I remember I sat down and I made a list of the kind of mother I wanted to be,” Lisa said. “The kind of wife I wanted to be, the kind of employee, the kind of things I wanted to do. And as I wrote all these things down, I realized nobody was going to hand those things to me. I was going to have to grow into them.”
