Chris Norton has inspired thousands of Americans after walking down the aisle with his bride, despite being paralyzed from the neck down. Now Chris Norton beats the odds again after he and his wife adopt five children and foster over 15.
“We went into it thinking that we would be the blessing to these kids, but they’re the blessing to us.”
Chris and Emily Norton
After suffering from a serious injury during a college football game in 2010, Chris was tragically paralyzed from the neck down. According to his doctors, he had a 3% chance of ever walking again.
However, after meeting his now wife, Emily, he was determined to surpass the expectations of the doctors and push himself to walk a very specific length – 7 Yards. The length it would take for him to walk down the aisle to his bride on their wedding day. (see the video below)
“The seven yards comes from my goal to walk Emily seven yards down the aisle on our wedding, to do it side by side, and it took seven years in the making,” he said. “All the way from spinal cord injury to that wedding day,” he added.
Chris Norton beats the odds again
When the couple decided to start their family, they decided to foster and adopt!
“We have fostered 17 children and we’ve adopted five girls,” he said, “I’m outnumbered, Les! I need help, I need help!” Chris said jokingly to the interviewer.
“So we just look at it like we’re in this position to give love, to give them a family and help them know they’re not alone,” she added.
5 daughters
Chris and Emily are still supporting each other every day as they raise their five daughters, whose ages range from 3 to 20.
“They just bring so much energy to our lives — there’s never a dull moment,” said Chris.

Whittley, 20-years-old, Ava 10-years-old, Liliana 8-years-old, Isabella, 6-years-old, and Ariana, 3-years-old.
Nothing is impossible when your heart is full of love and you have the desire to serve one another. We aren’t meant to do life alone and Chris and Emily make this clear by pursuing their dreams and serving these beautiful children.
