A Chinese woman found Jesus after her Buddhist parents forbade her to become a Christian.
Parents Forbade Her To Be A Christian
Jasmine Griffin grew up in China in a Buddhist family. When she moved to the US, she worried about getting to know Jesus and becoming a Christian.
“Before I moved here, of course, my parents were worried about me, and one thing they said to me before I moved was, ‘Don’t you become a Christian.'”
She eventually married a Christian man and her husband wanted her to at least learn about Jesus and Christianity. Jasmine read Lee Strobel’s book “The Case for Christ,’ and got to have her first encounter with Jesus. Wanting to know about Him, she went to church with her husband there she experienced something she never did before.
“We walked in and somebody was greeting us at the door, they were just smiling and saying, ‘Good morning! Welcome!’ It was just so welcoming and warmhearted. I remember us standing behind the control center in the back center of the auditorium. I don’t remember what song was being played on the stage but I do remember finding myself with tears after worshipping,” she recalled.

Jasmine’s transformation
She had many questions about Christianity until she found a community that could help her answer those questions.
“One of the biggest obstacles for me was the Bile. When you look at that, it’s intimidating. I don’t even know where to start even if I wanted to.”
An instructor from the Birmingham campus taught him how to start reading the Bible and about the structure of the Bible. Someone also gifted her an NIV study Bible. Eventually, Jasmine accepted Jesus Christ in her life and started serving God by serving other people.
“I don’t think it’s a leap of faith, it’s actually a step of faith. A leap of faith would be like a 0% jump all the way to 100% where you become a very faithful Christian. But that wasn’t the case for me, for me, it was 1% or even half percent at a time, and over time, there was a last step from 99% to 100%. I can’t tell you exactly where that moment was but it was somewhere along that journey.”
Jasmine’s testimony tells us that whatever belief we had in the past, we could still be a Child of God if we’d be willing to get to know Jesus.
