God the Father Disciplines His Children
No one likes to discipline. Because often, it is painful. Most people have experienced such discipline from their parents in their childhood. Often children can’t comprehend the reason behind it. But later on, as they grow and mature, they can see the purpose in it.In one of Pastor Peter Tan-Chi’s sermons, he shared how, in the same way, God, as the Father, disciplines His children. Radical Revolution shared a shortened clip of his message that has blessed many on social media.
“If you are committing sin, if you are not walking right with God, God will do something,” he explained. “God the Father disciplines His children.”
Is God Your Father?
Pastor Peter then shared how he raised and disciplined his children because he loves them. But he also stressed that if it were other children, he would never do it because they’re not his children. As a father, his authority to discipline children would only be to his own sons and daughters. Not with other parents’ kids.
With that, he remarked, “God is telling you the same thing. If you are sinning today and nothing is happening to you, you need to ask yourself: ‘Is God my Father?'”
“You see, God is our Father,” he concluded. “If you are not walking with Him, there will surely be discipline.”
God is a loving Father. And because of His love, He chastens His children sometimes. This is evident from what was written in Hebrews 12:6-7: “For whom the LORD loves, He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?”
