The Bible tells us to become childlike. It emphasizes the importance of dependence, authenticity, and wonder in our relationship with God.
What Does the Bible Say?
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12
In the hustle and bustle of adulthood, you can often find yourself burdened by responsibilities, worries, and the complexities of life. However, the words of John 1:12 invite you to rediscover the transformative power of embracing childlike faith: “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
Innocence, Dependability, and Wonder
Children possess a unique innocence when it comes to belief. They have the remarkable ability to trust wholeheartedly, free from the skepticism and doubt that often accompany adulthood. Jesus Himself emphasized the importance of childlike faith, stating in Matthew 18:3, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” As you seek to deepen your relationship with God, He calls you to embrace this childlike innocence in your approach to Him.
Children naturally depend on their parents for guidance, provision, and protection. Similarly, as a child of God, you are invited to embrace a deep sense of dependence on your Heavenly Father. Psalm 121:1-2 says, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” In recognizing your need for God’s wisdom, provision, and strength, you open yourself to experience His loving care and miraculous interventions.
Children possess an insatiable curiosity and wonder about the world around them. They approach life with wide-eyed awe and are quick to embrace the beauty and mystery in every moment. In your walk of faith, you are invited to recapture this childlike curiosity, allowing it to fuel your pursuit of God’s truth and the exploration of His creation. Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.” Approach your journey with the same sense of wonder and eagerness to discover the depths of God’s love and revelation.
Allow God to transform you and guide you into becoming more childlike. He delights to take care of you as a good Father delights to take care of their children.
