A man shared his journey about how God pushed him to build a marketplace ministry called Tetra Corporation on God At Work Show.
Chief Scientist
Bill Moeny, the chief scientist of Tetra Corporation, shared with Rich Marshall, the host of GOD At Work Show, the story behind how God pushed him to build a company. Three of them originally started the corporation more than 40 years ago. He also explained that 5 years before they formed the company, he read a couple of books about marketplace ministry. Two of those books were Mover of Men and Mountain by R.G LeTourneau, and God Owns My Business by Stanley Tam. He learned about serving in the marketplace shortly after coming to Christ.
“I told God at that time, ‘If you would ever have me have my own business, I want to run it for You as a company for Christ,’” he recalled. Five years later, after that prayer, God somehow answered his offer. According to him, God pushed him out of working for the Air Force and into starting a business.

Marketplace Ministry
Moreover, Rich added that Bill was one of the forerunners of the marketplace ministry. On the other hand, Bill explained that when they first started the company, they had a vision of working in the defense for a while. After that, they would invent good technologies and take one or two of their inventions to the marketplace. That was exactly what happened, except that God led him to focus on commercial development.
Furthermore, he believed that God gave him the wisdom that he needed to build the company. In fact, he admitted that in the research field, there are instances that he didn’t know what he was doing. Since there are no existing textbooks, what they did was go to God and ask for His guidance. He also pointed out that James 1:5 was the theme verse of their company. And it says there, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
