Chadwick Boseman won a Golden Globe Award as best actor for his portrayal of a jazz musician in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” His wife received the award and said that he would have thanked God.

On Sunday night, the Golden Globe Awards happened, and Chadwick Boseman won the Best Actor in a Motion Picture award. According to Variety, Anthony Hopkins (“The Father”), Riz Ahmed (“The Sound of Metal”), Gary Oldman (“Mank”), and Tahar Rahim (“The Mauritanian”) were also nominated for the award.
After Renée Zellweger presented the late actor’s award, his survived wife Simone Ledward Boseman appeared on the screen. She accepted his award on behalf of him and honored him in an emotional speech. She also shared what her husband would have said at that moment.

He Would Thank God
Then she said, “He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices.”
Further, she continued while in tears, “He would say something beautiful, something inspiring. Something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells you, ‘You can,’ that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history.”
But the widow admitted she doesn’t have the actor’s words. “But we have to take all of the moments to celebrate those we love. So thank you HFPA, for this opportunity to do exactly that. And, honey, you keep ’em coming. Thank you.”
Succumbed To Colon Cancer
Last year in August, Chadwick succumbed to his private battle with colon cancer. Aside from being famous for playing King T’Challa in “Black Panther,” he was also known to be outspoken with his Christian faith.
In 2018, the late actor boldly shared Bible verses when he delivered a message at his alma mater’s commencement address.
He also said, “When God has something for you, it doesn’t matter who stands against it. God will move someone that is holding you back away from the door and put someone there who will open it for you if it’s meant for you. I don’t know what your future is. But if you’re willing to take the harder way, the more complicated one, the one with more failures at first than successes, the one that has ultimately proven to have more meaning, more victory, more glory, then you will not regret it.”
