Christian media influencer and minister shares the proper way of casting out demons according to the Bible.
Casting Out Demons
Ryan Miller reveals Bible references on being cautious in executing deliverance. He acknowledges the importance of the ministry of casting out demons in the church. However, he also warns that there is a proper order in doing so because if not followed correctly, the delivered person will be worse off than before.
He then pointed to Matthew 12:43-45. It says, “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”
Ryan first compared spiritual meditation between Eastern traditions and Biblical teachings. Eastern meditation aims to rid or empty oneself, as seen in Buddhism or Hinduism, while the Bible teaches to fill oneself with the Word of God. Therefore, Jesus warns against casting out demons and leaving the person empty. After being cleansed, the person should be filled with the Word of God and the Holy Spirit.
Ryan said, “You should never go and cast a demon out of a person if they don’t have proper discipleship in order and if you don’t follow up. Why? Because the demon will leave and all of a sudden, that person will be empty. And it will come back seven times stronger. That is the biblical principle.”
He continued, “I’m not saying you shouldn’t cast out demons. I’m saying cast out demons and then do discipleship, then follow up with that person. Make sure they’re filled. Why? Because the demon will come back seven times stronger if you don’t.”
